I think there is a thread on this already, just couldnt find it. My MY11 8 speed auto seems to have a knack of being in the wrong gear. It usually occurs as you are coming to a junction or roundabout, and dont stop but just want to pull away, and the auto is in too high a gear. You get very little acceleration, so push the throttle, which kicks it down and you take off like a scalded cat, having to then avoid the car directly in front of you.
I never had this with the 6 speed auto in the D3. Is it a case of more (gears) = less?
A software update or reset maybe?

Get both the engine and gearbox re flashed with the latest software Al 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Plus One for what DG said. I had it done at the service in November and it's been fine since. Take a note of the LR references in the thread and present them to the Service Manager. You may get blank looks otherwise.

I was told by my dealer that there is no engine update available for a my2012, just the gearbox. On mine it didn't do anything initially after being updated three times, then one cold night it kicked in all on its own on the motorway. It does make it better but does not eliminate entirely Joined the BMWX5 45e group
