Stalling TDV6 after dabb of the throttle help ?
Hi all
My situation , With a cold engine Whilst reversing out of a drive on a slight incline I excelerated to get the car moving and then took my foot off the accelerator then it STALLED
The car restarted straight away without problem
I've also tried revving the car without being in gear and it also stalls not every time
sometimes it sounds like it's going to stall and the battery light flickers but doesn't stall
The battery is charging at 14.9 volt
And have no problem starting the car .
I've checked for fault codes and have none stored in the engine tdv6 ecu
I've tried this whilst the engine is hot and it's been fine.
Thankyou

Complete guess but have had this with other cars in the past and it was related to airflow - i.e. the car was being starved of air for one or another reason. Almost as if you have put your hand over the air intake and blocked it.
Admittedly this doesn't help much but no doubt much more knowledgeable people will be along soon.Cheers,
Gareth

Cheapest thing to try first is the Temp sensor, it's reading but it's not giving the correct reading possibly when cold to ramp up the fuel mixture when cold.
This is cheapest item I would think, otherwise your into fuel rail pressures, airflow meter, try it without the air filter when cold, see if that cures it, could be just needing a clean filter.
Simple quick checks, bar that a software update to the lowest engine rpm when cold is requiredFFRR SC 4.2

Thank you for the speedy replies
As usual
The car was services by land rover in November last year
So would hope that it's not a dirty filter
I will double check and try your suggestions
Thank you

I had a few near stalls with battery light too some times, mainly reversing off my drive which is on a very slight slope and a tight turn.
Not done it since the megaflush it had late summer ''13

Thank you all
I've been out trying to get to the bottom of this
I've removed the air filter and still does the same
I've disconnected the air flow sensor and still the same.
I've noticed that it also does stall when warm but no time dustily after restating after stalling
Below are the diagnostics taken from the engine tdv6 ecu
Two different number the first being with engine off prior to testing
The second with the engine running.
Engine speed 0rpm
(1) accelerator sensor position 1 0%
(2) accelerator sensor position 2 0%

Barometric pressure 100kpa

Any ideas on how it solved itself ..... just doing a little searching and appreciate the threads age D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.

I would also be interested to find out what the outcome was, as I have similar issue.

It could be caused by a low battery.
I've had a similar stalling effect with mine on a couple of occasions, it's always happened in cold weather and when I've not used the car much, sometimes also accompanied by a few warning lights on the dash.
It always started OK but just needed a short time of keeping the revs over 1000 or so until the battery voltage was up enough to properly maintain the various ECU's.
A better solution for periods of non-use or short journeys is to use a maintenance charger like a CTEK or similar.Clive

My symptoms are identical as ChrisD3 had.
This has been ongoing for quite a while, so this rules out the cold weather.
Even after a new battery was installed it still happens.
After checking the live data, I have the following:
Injector 1 cylinder balance 979.61
Injector 2 cylinder balance 976.89
Injector 3 cylinder balance 1.037k
Injector 4 cylinder balance 850.95
Injector 5 cylinder balance 1.231k
Injector 6 cylinder balance 916.18
Manifold air pressure 102 kph
Viscous fan speed 3616rpm
Fuel pressure 22730kpa
The only fault logged under engine is P0495-00 (2F) which I believe is fan high speed. Given the viscous fan speed logged could this need a new fan? Or is the speed of the fan normal?
All the above was on read on a engine after 5 mins or so of running on the drive.
Any advice on the above great fully received.
Thanks
Mark

Appreciating this was a while ago, did either of you manage to solve this issue
Have a similar issue myself.
Many thanks
Edward.

Changed the 3 month old fuel filter to a LandRover supplied one, sorted 😀
