Surround Cameras & Recording
On the range rovers (and it thought the discos) there is supposed to be an equivalent of a black box (not as sophisticated but you get my meaning)
Wouldn't it be good if the surround cameras could record and I wondered if anyone has ever thought of doing something with the system to make that happen.
It would make a backvue approach redundant as you would have 360 recording all the timeMike

Did look into this some time ago think the answer was no the cameras are only active when selected on screen
Sure some one will be along to put me right

I remember asking Wiggs about this and he said it would be easy to break into one of the feed cables and put a digital recorder in but as allforus has mentioned the cameras are only live when they are on the screen Cheers Ian

Would a permanent power supply not rectify this, if only live when they are selected on the screen then surely it's a relay somewhere. So a 12v direct to the relay would make them powered permanently??
Just a thought

I thought the new cameras have some more features - they might still be off until on the screen...which is a bit rubbish, but to record them would be very good.
The black box is already there on discos I understandMike

Iv tried this ...
Yes you can record .. But only what's on the screen .
So if you have 5 cameras showing .. It will record 5 cameras .... 1 camera showing it will record 1.
Problem being is the output is controlled by what you select on the touch screen .. Once the screen is not in camera mode or off .. You loose the picture
