Discovery 4 2014 MY DRL Lights

Can anyone throw some "light" on the subject.

I am looking at the 2014 MY HSE

Xenon Lights
LED Strip

Are there an additional round DRL within these lights ( same as on the Freelander ? )

Confused completely on whats what.

Any details, photos would be great thanks.

The Halogen lights have a round Daylight Running Light but the Xenons have the LED strip.(I think) Wink

Mine has the round DRL and not the Led lights as I don't have xenons.

On the 2014 xenon version, the round lights are blinkers (indicators).

Was interested as well.
One of the reasons why I like my current d3 is that I have bi-xenons that really are superb.
And in addition the normal Halogens also light up like head lights.
So the result of the bi-xenons plus the halogens is a view that almost equals a day view.

My additional LR lights do not improve the view at all.
Bad investment. Especially since with the primitive LR-fitting, I never dared to go into a car wash.

I am curious how the 2014 will shine without the halogens (only xenons - where the halogens used to be, there are now blinkers).

We are back to sub Brand DLR arrangement, Dicovery has a round DLR As the current Freelander which later this year is to become Dicovery(baby). It surrounds the Indicator.

RR and RRS and Evoque all have oval DLR in both cases around the indicator light. I understand the DLR dims when the indicator is in use. I have only sen 14MY with bi-Zenons' and therefor not sure if the DLR stripes are aslo on the Halgens.

You don't get corning lights as standard with bi Zenons any longer from what i have seen, you only get them if you have AFS.

Interestingly the last incarnation of the Discovery 2 has the same light arrangement as the new 2004 Disco 3, so i do believe when we see the 2016/17 Dicovery the lighting arrangement will be very similar to 14MY.

We wait to see, I collect my MY14 on March . i hope i have a definate understanding soon after.

I have one on the drive right now...what do you want to know.

The DRLs are the line type like the rrs etc.

In addition they have xenon as the main light. Light output it brilliant just as good as previous, no worse, maybe better.

The indication is in the circle light - this is the only standard bulb in the unit.

There is an empty space which has no bulb in my cluster. Now I haven't got adaptive (because I don't like). The new HSE unit doesn't have the cornering lights like the sport (big shame) I don't know if the adaptive version actually does either, although a comment on here implied they do. The empty space could be the indicator not he none xenon version or the cornering light, I don't know (question whether it can be retrofitted?)

The DRLS don't appear to dim when indicating like the evoque etc...but i can't say I've looked. The arrangement however is very different than the evoque etc it needs to dim in order to set he indicator.

Does that clarify?

I have adaptive lights, and they do have the cornering lights, also the DRL does dim when indicating.

retrofitting would need programming I imagine, they are tied like everything on the disco to the can, only work below a certain speed etc etc.

find someone with a faultmate like Wiggs and they can probably tell you the answer and also how much to enable them if possible? Thumbs Up
Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

I have access to autologic (the best tool for all this)...no doubt its just enable cornering lights. The pain would be removing the lights

The main headlight assembly? two tabs per light pull up it lifts out just disconnect wiring loom, have to remove front grill first on 6 clips.

If you mean take light assembly apart to fit bulb holder, then yes painful I imagine!
