Breakdown Recovery - LR Assistance |
|
Hi, stupid question, but does LR assistance only last for 12 months?
My AA cover is due for renewal (I need it for my Lotus, although I have never had to use it I might add), and it is so bloody expensive, that I'm looking at various options.
I wanted to check whether I need cover for my disco as well, it is a 2012 model, and I'm assuming that it isn't covered by LR Assistance anymore. Can anyone confirm please? Disco 4 2012 HSE 3.0 SDV6, Santorini black, Ebony leather, privacy, 20" 5 spoke alloys, tow bar

Covered under your original 3 year warranty.
So a 2012 will still be covered.

If you have a bank account with added on features, check that you are not already covered.

Hi Andy,
As Marsky has already stated, the LR Assist runs alongside the duration of your original manufacturers warranty. So you will still be covered
Many thanks,
Pete

Haggle with the AA, I had my renewal come through and it was double what a new member would pay, they played the "that's a new member only discounted rate", fine says I cancel it and I will apply again in a few weeks
Needless to say it was renewed at the much lower rate. G4OC Secretary

So if you extend the LR warranty, does LR Assist automatically extend too....? G4OC Secretary

Excellent, thanks very much for that. I think a car only policy for the Lotus (rather than individual) should be the lowest cost option.
Cheers

Hi DurtyDisco,
I have corrected my original post to read *original* manufacturers warranty. As the LR assist is offered for the lifetime of the original 3 years manufacturers warranty.
With regards to LR assist during extended warranty, this is dependant on which option is chosen at the time of purchasing the option.
Hope this helps.
Many thanks,
Pete

That's very interesting indeed. I had a MY 12 D4 and was told by Marshall's on collection that the warranty was for 3 years, but LR Assist was only for 12 months. This was relfected in the paperwork. When I collected my MY 13 discovery in June I was told by Marhsall's that the policy had changed and that from MY 13 on LR Assist now lasted for the duration of the warranty. So, according to what the (admittedly fallible) dealer told me and showed me in the documentation, a MY12 car would not be covered, although all newer cars seem to be. PAGODA

Hi Pagoda,
Upon registering the vehicle and the start of the 3 years manufacturers warranty that we offer, the LR assist will run alongside this and expires at the same time. I sincerely apologise if you have received conflicting information from a dealership.
Many thanks,
Pete

As someone else said earlier; check your bank account as usually anyone you pay for has a range of options built in for things like travel insurance, concierge services and car breakdown, etc.
Mine (with Lloyds) gives me basic 'get you home' cover included

Thanks, that's clear. I never needed it anyway, thankfully.
And I'd be cautious about setting a precedent, Peter, that sees you apolgising for misinformation provided by dealers. I fear it would become a life's work overnight! PAGODA
