We have had our Mitchel Bros hitch on for quite a while now and once we got the reciever in as I wanted it we tow our 3500kg van very well.
The only problem we have id I have a Kaymar bar and still find the sensors to be a pain.
Has anyone got a fix for this as we are now residing in Noosa it will be TOO hard to get to Kaymar in Melbourne to rectify.
Look forward to great help fixing this small problem.

Aaron told me he will be looking at this next time he fits one to a Kaymar bar.
But my understanding is that the sensors are recessed and have a new housing as part of the bar.
I think they need to be brought forward and moved slightly out.
In the LR bar it is easy because the bar is not flat and the housings can be rotated but the Kaymar have a different arrangement.

Any issues you have noticed with the Mitchell Bros Hitch as opposed to the LR one?

Mine's arrived, along with the cargo barrier as well.
All in order, good components and instructions. I'll get time to bolt it up tomorrow night, if I can get it warm enough to paint! It was already below 5C when I got home at 18:00.
rgds all

Ahem. Last time I ordered something 4WD-ish from the Eastern States it went via Darwin, then Adelaide, and finally Perth. Probably on camel it was so slow.... . Hope not the same with the hitch as I want it before Xmas. Hi All,
I noticed that some of you are painting the hitch. I suppose that you are just doing that to make it look less obvious since the finish is a bit bling.
Did you prime the plating first before adding your top coat or did you just spray on a top coat?
I was going to just use the automotive spray can by the way.

Hi PCH,
With new galvanising you need to apply an etch prime before applying top coats, otherwise the top coat will not hold.
Best Wishes,
Peter

etch prime.
Make sure you prep the surface before to remove grease.

Had a quick trip up to Sydney today (680 km return) to have Aaron fit the new hitch and cargo barrier.
I have the Kaymar carrier on the back and he modified it and the hitch slightly and all fits well and looks great.
Out to get a can of paint tomorrow to finalise the fitting.
BTW my rear sensors work OK with the hitch and spare wheels on the back - I had 'massaged' the sensors a bit previously. Retired Bob

I,m painting it black just to fit in better with the vehicle finish, very happy that it is galvanised.
I just give it a prepsol wash and then hit it with kill rust black gloss epoxy paint. 2 coats, very strong finish.
rgds all.

Fitted mine today, D3 has the Kaymar rear bar and wheel carrier.Required a small amount of grinding to the rear bar as outlined by Aaron in an earlier post. Also required a small amount of the tyre locking lever to be ground away. Finished product looks great and is an excellent fit. Checked towing height for the van (tape measure only) seems to be spot-on using the old Disco tongue and towball attachment. Kaymar rear bar and tyre carrier; Safari Snorkel: ARB under-bonnet compressor; LRA fuel tank; Winch, bullbar; Cibie Super Oscars; Rhino Platform Roof Rack, Reversing camera; Traxide auxiliary battery system, 17" rims - Cooper ST.

Received my tow hitch from Mitchell Bros today Very impressed with the quality of fit, finish, manufacture and completeness of the kit as a whole. The installation instructions are a joy to behold. Lots and lots of thought and effort has gone into this. The only real problem I had with fitting was that I couldn't get the left-hand trailer plug far enough out of the way to allow easy fitting of the bolt through the recovery eye. Another 2-3 mm slack in the wires would have made all the difference! The nylon bush through the recovery eye is also a very tight fit - as I suppose it should be. Apart from that it is very simple to fit. Major congrats to all involved! White S TDV6 auto. Air Suspension. Active Rear Diff. ARB bullbar. IPF spotlights. GME TX3440 UHF radio. re Parking Sensor rotation |

CaverrD3
You mentioned in your post to rotate the sensors 75 degrees away from the tow hitch, can you tell me 75 degrees which way. Lets say I am doing the drivers side sensor is that 75 degrees clockwise or anticlockwise Maya Gold June 05 Disco3 HDV6 HSE AT2 Tyres Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch
