It isn't supposed to be like this!
Collected my Scotia Grey HSE today from Hatfields in Liverpool. It looks great and was pleased to see that it only had 4 miles on the clock and was built only two weeks ago.
Then I began the 100 mile trip home to North Yorkshire.... At 22 miles it went into limp home mode with the following warning message which would not clear after shutting her down and restarting!
Not wanting to get it recovered at such a low mileage (and wanting to get the baby home) I continued driving knowing the possibility that it could potentially stop with a flat battery at any minute. Anyhow, after about another 40 miles when I stopped for fuel the message cleared after restarting the engine. I made it home with no further problems.
Will take it to a local dealer on Monday to get it checked out. Could it be that the initial battery charge was low (there were quite a few automatic stop/starts in the first 5 miles) and maybe the battery needed a good charge, or maybe the alternator is faulty.....
Not the start I was hoping for....2016 Discovery Sport HSE Luxury 2.0 Ingenium Automatic

Could be start stop at night on first run but the battery should have been tip top regardless tbh..
Part of the PDI is to confirm the status of the battery along with other transit relay requirements ...if it is found to be battery related then ask to see a copy of the "new vehicle storage form" which must be completed when they receive the vehicle ...again if it points to battery then ask for a new one. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

as his honour says, simpy a case of the valet guys having the radio on and doors open whilst prepping your car. LR do say the battery has to be topped up prior to handover but given the need to pdi other vehicles...obviously not following LR guidance.....should be ok now you've run him around a bit.
BTW just means you can now get an upgrade for a full days LR experience voucher and not just a half day........what....you mean you haven't asked for a voucher...shame on you and everyone else who hasn't asked after paying 35k plus for their new car

I always thought if the battery was low then stop/start should be disabled? If doing lots of short trips around town in the winter the battery would just die wouldn't it?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I do believe you are right Dave ...the warning may have been related to that 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

On other hire cars I have driven with start stop they just don't stop, never had a warning light before, it would be a little strange if it is doing what it's supposed to.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Can't access topix for stop start info so will have to await the outcome from DTC's 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thats a fault message. I think you need to get it to a dealer asap.
Personally, I would call out LR Assist, and show them that pic, then let them worry about it. There will be a top class Jag or LR loaner on your drive within the the hour.
Thats my experience anyway.

Ok, so i started her up this morning with no faults or warnings. FBH kicked in and the car automatically switched on the heated front & rear screens so it is obviously happy with the state of the battery. I have put it on the CTEK charger (AGM setting) and will monitor things over the next few days.
When the warning came on last night and the car went into limp mode (restricted acceleration etc.) the Stop/Start system was disabled, presumably in an effort to save battery power, but ironically, the heated screens, heated steering wheel and heated seats all worked (I made sure as many power hungry systems were switched off as possible including A/C etc). You would have thought the system would be clever enough to disable these non essential things when there is a battery/charging issue reported.
I will let you know of any further developments....
BTW, the stop/start system seems to be sensitive to brake pedal pressure - a very light force on the brake when the vehicle is stationary and the engine keeps running. Press harder and the engine stops. I think, that once you get used to this then the system is workable.2016 Discovery Sport HSE Luxury 2.0 Ingenium Automatic

Is that the same pdi where the battery box isn't fitted and checked, cables aren't clipped, battery vent tube not connected, gromets no inserted properly - there is a list and ive come to think the dealers just don't PDI them properly when they are even slightly busy let alone check things like battery charge.
Oh - just turn stop/start off Mike

Sorry to hear of your problems fella. I'm sure it will get sorted and sometimes these things happen. A lot of times the dealer experience can vary Personally, my dealer Beadles, Sidcup are always prepared to bend over backwards to accommodate me. I am sure your dealer will sort the issue for you ASAP! As form the Stop/Start, I really don't see the issue with it. I find it unobtrusive and almost seamless. An excellent effort IMHO.
I hope you get things sorted soon

Was sat in a dealer's showroom for a couple of hours while they did an MOT and I noticed it is now the norm to have all the vehicles in the showroom with side lights/DRLs switched on. Cant say about the Jaguars as I didnt look in them but all The Land Rovers had a message on the dash about low battery state. So if they just pushed yours outside and started it up once what change did you have of a fully charged battery?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. As the message on the screen indicates there must have been some trouble with the charging system itself (maybe BMS, voltage regulator...). You won't get a message about a low battery while the engine is running. Hopefully it was just intermittent and has now cleared itself Life in the slow lane

Better check the DTC's statetrooper. Easy and quick at the dealer's.
BTW, the Start/Stop has its own battery on the left side of the engine. It seems though that it works in association with the vehicle's main battery and gets deactivated when there is any battery issue.

The spare battery I understand powers some of the key systems so the main battery can restart the car
Im not sure how much, I suspect it doesn't do things like the infotainment etc, just the engine ecu type stuff.Mike
