Lift the bonnet and look at the stickers.

Non adaptives say HiD

Adaptives say AFS

They don't have resistors, but they are only a few quid, and simple enough to fit.

That said, I could fit them at my end, so they are plug and play My D3 Build Thread

If, like me you are too chicken to roast your own lights then this is the way to go and for a reasonable cost.

Don't use Hermes as your courier though.

So no doubt he'll be along soon when they are sorted Thumbs Up D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.
