Accessing the Sat Nav Unit to change disc/check disc version |
|
Afternoon all!
just a quickie cos my HSE didn't come with the sat nav manual......
The unit is fixed underneath the pax seat is that right? If so how do i get access to it to remove the disc?
Is there any other way without removing the disc that i can check the nav software and map versions?
I have been into the Nav Diagnostic menus and have gleaned the following info (but can't correlate that with the map/software versions i've seen on this site):
SW - 1020 06/24/04
MapVers EU V.02.02.05
Nav Part No YIB500051
Thanks in advance

I think the nav disk part number in the diagnostics is the same for all disks !!!
Put the passenger seat as high as it will go and as forward as it will go .You can then get into the nav unit to remove the disk .Note - there is a little button that unlocks the dvd draw you have to push first , then the eject button.
Alternatly the plastic surround under the front of the seat pulls off ... G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

sorry, well I suppose it just depends on the level of discount expected
Nick at Yeovil (The Large One on here) is worth a call.
You are a fair bit to the East of me but not too far is we ever get to organise a South Coast Meet. end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

After lots of normal service from my 2009 D4 SE Sat Nav DVD screen it is now saying please insert a NAV CD when the existing 2009 version is in it!
I have removed and cleaned it several times but the screen still says please insert a NAV CD?
Any help appreciated.

Holy thread resurrection Batman! May have been better starting a new thread with a more helpful subject than adding a post to a thread that finished 12 years ago... That said, when you say you have cleaned it, do you mean the drive or the disc? You can attempt to clean the drive using a cleaning disc, though I have to say I have had little luck with them. Other option is to find someone else with a D3 and try their disc, but the drives are known to fail so I suspect that will be the issue.
I am sure there is a post on here where someone swapped the drive mechanism, but if I am honest, much like the fact you can get new satnav discs with the latest mapping, you are better off with a phone and Google maps.

Thanks re above...
I don't use it but I am fussy about everything working as it should in my cars
PS: I used this thread as peeps moan about starting a new thread on existing subject (Accessing the Sat Nav Unit to change disc/check disc version) so can't win either way
