Bonnet open message

Went out into town today, nothing out of the ordinary. Came home and pulled up, BONNET OPEN warning on dash. Went out and checked, bonnet firmly shut. Horn indicated miss locking on operating the central locking. Opened car, the closed the door, let it go to sleep. On putting the key in the start position, same BONNET OPEN message. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

LR have modified the bonnet catch that has the bonnet sensor in it i think its a d4 bonnet catch that has the switch built in and can't be changed on its own so u will need the whole latch but still very cheap

Thanks, just been out in the pouring rain, removed the switch and bridged the plug with a paperclip. Immediate problem solved, switch is full of Censored and looks like not making good contact. Will clean it and replace it when it stops raining!

Try cleaning the latch/switch mechanism with WD40 or something similar as they can stick. A temporary fix to permit remote locking requires removal of the multiplug and the plug contacts to be bridged using a insulated crimp connector, the fork type work well.

I bypassed mine with a paper clip, I don't need a sensor to tell me my bonnet is open

If I remember correctly,

Open the bonnet, while you're looking at it from the front the connecter is slightly to the left of centre.

It should be quite obvious.

It is worth fixing the sensor. Bonnets have been known to fly open at speed when not fully locked and it is tied to the perimeter alarm too.

Thanks guys. Seems to be quite a common problem. As it is still under LR Main Dealer warranty I will let them fix it!

I've had a dirty switch causing the alarm to beep AND a catch that doesn't always hold in the last few months. A good clean sorted the switch, and slamming the bonnet over the dodgy catch seems to work at the moment. Mind you, having seen that clip maybe I'll get it fixed properly.
