Chipex, whats it like?

Well it arrived in the post yesterday and I decided today was the day to test this stuff out.

You might ask "What is it?"

Well Chipex is a stone chip repair system that I found late one night while I was surfing the web.

I thought I'll buy a bottle of that stuff and give it a go, but to be honest I didn't think it would be much good but I thought I'll give it a try as its going to be the only way to find out if it dose what it says on the tin.

So far I'm really impressed with it, I thought I'll try the 2 very deep chips in the bonnet fist (nothing like jumping in at the deep end).

Firstly, it comes very well packaged in a round tub about twice the size of a tin of baked beans. The full kit comprises of Paint, Solvent, polish, rubber gloves, Q-Tips, cloth/tissue to remove excess paint, a polishing cloth and some instructions.

With the sun shining, I thought I would try it out, so I wiped the dust of an area of the bonnet and as per the instructions I then have it a wipe with the blending lotion to remove and wax. I then put on a rubber glove and dabbed a little bit of the well shaken paint over the scratch/chip and left it to dry for 10mins.

Placed a little of the blending lotion on a bit of the provided tissue and very gently wiped over the paint filled scratch/chip. And bingo the chip started to disappear, Its still there but now filled with pain that matches the colour of the car and you really have to look closely to see it. I have not even used the provided polish as its just started to rain, its only a shower so I will get some pic up later.

All in all, money well spent, so I know what I'll be doing for the weekend.

Its not 100% but I'm learning as I do it and each chip I cover up looks better than the last.

One thing I have found out is if you don't wait long enough for the paint to dry, you just end up wiping it all off again. On the other hand, if you let it dry for too long, it takes ages to wipe smooth so its a bit of a balancing act but worth the effort.

It's going to take a long time with all the stone chips I have.

I looked at this in the past, but wasn't feeling brave enough, but think I need to reconsider as yours is looking good.

I guess as with most things it is all about taking the time to do it right.

I will give this a try too

....as chips frustrate the hell out of me with standard touch up stuff
My colour Lugano Teale was never a colour LR did as a stock item...they made me one up FREE

the only reservation I have is if you can "level" a chip & that laquer isn't used - this is the usual leveller & protector for the actual colour...
But I will buy some & try it

thanks for the positive test run you made The RealBoss
 BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
