CARE ! stapldm advocates horse dung as fuel ! Don't confuse RON rating etc with the amount of additives some do/dont add.Thee are different things-are they not ??

Answer :- same places as the major brands.
The only diffrence is the addative they use and thats from one of the major players, think its esso if memory serves me right.
I'll use anyone's diesel and had no diffrence in running performance.
The only thing that takes me to the same petrol station is the points reward and I collect shell points (the only reason for shell points is that I fill my lorry up at shell cause of the fuel card and I get shed loads of points)Focus ST500

A mate of mine works on VW and MAN and recons all there fuel related problems come from supermarket fuel whether he is right or wrong i use shell or BP.

It's all supposition.
The fuel market is very, very regulated as far as quality is concerned. The recent unleaded issue was purely accidental (and very unusual).
Diesel, in particular, is a pretty unsophisticated distillation cut. Additives make some difference, but you'd need to use many litres before really making a difference. MPG analysis is very unscientific at the driver level; you try driving a long distance into a strong headwind and then look at your consumption figures.
Then, of course, there is always that fact that if you live up north, it is downhill to the south and vice-versa.......

So why does my D3 think and does seem to get on average over 520 ish miles on BP Ultimate, slightly less on Esso Energy and under 480 ish on Texaco ?
When using Super Market fuel I get even less from a tank ?
My driving style stays the same and on average do the same kind of mileage, drive the same roads week in week out ?
Am I delusional ? Or is it my D3's computer ?
Be keen to find out.

That's why it isn't scientific Mr .
I reckon to get 500-520 per tank on average. I buy my diesel from Morrison's. I also use Shell, and that returns the same sort of result.
BP Ultimate is a premium brand, has different additives and isn't available anywhere around here. I've never tried it, as I see no reason to.

I have got my first lot of the latest Miller Powerplus stuff in, I will see if it makes any difference.
Other than that mine seems to like Shell best, BP ultimate makes no differnce to my mpg, only wallet!!!!end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Just a word of advice; those with specifically MY07 diesels need the newer more expensive Millers "Diesel Sport 4" additive as the original "Power Plus" is not suitable for Euro4 engines. That is the advice I was given by Millers who stated that it relates to detrimental, long term use effects on the Diesel Particulate Filter.
A figure of 60k mileage was suggested before this would be apparent.
I was also told that the original Power Plus is being phased out.

OK -so none of us really know -but some of us have asked the question of people who should know.I say there is no smoke without fire -just that some of your Discos might smoke a bit more in a couple of years !!..[is that allowed after July 1st ??]

sorry, using the Sport 4 actually....even though not 07 as it had apparently replaced Powerplus......it is also easier to pour, haven't spilt much yet....and the best bit if you like this sort of thing is that it should shortly be available in 5 litre cans which will bring it down to a sensible dose price.end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
