Land Rover Off Road Experience for 11-17 yr olds |
|
Hi,
I've booked this for my 11 and 12 yr old daughters (https://www.startoff-road.com/) They are very excited but 'it has to be a white Evoque Dad'....
Anyone else tried it?

I went with a family member on the one up at Duncome Park in Yorkshire, and then subsequently Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.
They were pretty good to be fair, and all the instructors were friendly enough, and most importantly communicated on a level with which the kids engaged with (I hate to say it, but dumbed it down somewhat, which is necessary for beginners!).
The lad enjoyed it to be fair, hence why we did another one down at Ragley hall. There's nothing too challenging if I'm honest, and nothing that a complete novice off-roader couldn't manage in a D4 for example, but for kids it's a great experience and gives them a bit of confidence.
Regards
Pete

We did this yesterday with our 11 & 12 yr old daughters. They loved it and the course and instructors were great.
Short clip here...
Only downside; they now want an Evoque.

When I did mine I enjoyed it but like dad said I had half the time I was meant to have but was good fun! I think they need something more challenging to let the 'skilled' drivers have a go at? Becuase when I did mine the instructor said, I am very skilled for my age! But for someone who has never drivern before it would be great fun!! 2009 Discovery 3 HSE - Gone

Not done the Landrover one, but have done 2 others for my 14 year old son. First was an hours driving and instruction in Bristol second was a shared car, he only had 1 other in it but could be 3 round castle coombe race track.
First in Bristol "Young Driver" best and keep a record book so can move on up through the skill set, not Ewoks or Landrover but all new cars, Seat Vauxhall etc D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Just as a suggestion- but if you are REALLY careful and selective about the times etc that you do this, I have taken my 3 kids on to the Blackrock Sands beach hear Phwelli and taught them how to drive there. You can have as much fun as you like and there is little chance of damaging the car- or anyone or anything else. They thoroughly enjoyed it and it wasn't time-bound.... just a thought...! D4 HSE in Stornoway- love it. Jaguar XF, MG TF, D2 ES V8 and 2x TR7s for playing!
Gone- D3- a fortune spent and now a lovely car for it's new owner; D2 G4 replica- Tangiers Orange and survivor of 2 Pot Noodle Challenge's!

What you need to do is the perimeter road around Salisbury plain starting at "Redhorn Hill" near Chirton (17 miles +/_) ???
I frequently did this with the kids after they were twelve or so until they passed their tests (both first time).
As far as I know it is open for 365 days a year.
The condition is totally dependent on the time of year. Sometimes it is only for 4x4 but others normal cars.
Well worth a detour, wherever you are!
