Has anyone else read the fine print re: roadside assistance? (from LRA's website)
"Towing Limitations. Towing will only be provided for eligible vehicles WEIGHING LESS THAN 2500Kg at the time of breakdown. Vehicles exceeding this limitation will be offered towing at the drivers expense."
and further on:-
"Service will only be provided to eligible vehicles disabled on constructed roads _ _ trafficable by conventional TWO WHEEL drive vehicles" !!!!
I have just taken out RACV Total Care just in case my D3 decides to chuck a wobbly on the Tanami Track. At least it offers a Towing Subsidy for vehicles up to 4 tons.

Have Land Rover confirmed that they will only service your
vehicle on servicable roads 
I suppose their service network has to be able to reach you
Seems a bit rough though

norto, I was told that they would recover anywhere, but when you read the conditions on the website at

they are not obliged to. (read page 3)

I never looked at the fine print on LRA as I have had RACV Total Care, or the like, for the last 10 years. I was told anywhere anytime by the dealer for LRA but I doubted it from anecdotal evidence of ford & nissan roadside assist being limited. Did you think I would leave you crying,

I called LR Assist about a month ago whilst in Lithgow - they put me striaght thru to the NRMA (actually, it was the NRMA that answered the call in the first place).

Some time ago I spoke to a NRMA road pertrole bloke about LR.
His and I quote , " Land Rover are the easiest call out, I just phone for a tilt tray truck  and I am off,
nothing I can do  "

Well, when I wanted LR Assist a long time ago when my compressor failed, they put me through to NRMA in Sydney! Absolute Joke! Have a nice day!

When I had my compressor failure last year, RACQ (who handle LRA Roadside Assist in QLD) transported my D3 over 300 kms to the nearest dealer for repairs and back.
Absolutely no complains with LRA or RACQ (aside of not having a vehicle for a few days). 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

An interesting post.
Suppose you don't have Internet access? I read everything that was given to me when I took delivery of my D3. I did not see any mention of the limitations on GVM and where you are when you need assistance.
I specifically asked the dealer where the Roadside Assist applies and was told, in front of witnesses, that it applied ANYWHERE in Australia, provided there was access to where you are. In other words, if you were making your own track up a sandhill or across the desert, you could not expect Roadside Assist to apply, but if you were on the QAA line, then you'd be OK.
Additionally, if you buy a vehicle specifically because of its load carrying and towing capacities, as I did, then why would you not be allowed to drive the vehicle to the extents of its load limits and not expect help? I don't think their case would hold much sway if it were tested in court.
As I have nothing else to go on, and I choose not to read LR's website, I'm sticking to what I've been told and as Mitsubishi Motors have found out, it doesn't pay to mess with me. D4: Expedition Rack, 104 Litre Long Range Tank, Raised Air Intake
