Misbehaving MY14

Hi all,

Had my MY14 HSE for 2 months and 2000 miles now, it's a great car and better in all respects than the '07 D3 than went before.

But....There area couple of things that are winding me up that I wonder if anyone else has experienced?

Occasionally I can open the car and the drivers seat has moved as far forward as it can go, it doesn't move as I unlock, it must have moved when I locked it.....crazy, also, after one of these random seat moves, it switches on the heated steering wheel.

Second thing is rattle and squeaks, driving me nuts. Seems to be centre console and glove box area. I've noticed the quality of plastics doesn't seem to be as good as the D3, I can flex pretty much any area of the dash/console and it moves and creaks.

The car is booked in for a couple of days to get these looked at, but I'd be interested to hear any forum opinion or personal experience .

As far as the seat position issue goes, it can be as mentioned above, just catching the memory position buttons with your elbow, it's not that uncommon. Another thing is have you checked the the round switch on the left of the steering column ? If it's not switched to auto, the seats won't move when you open the drivers door. Not sure how relevant this is to your current problem but might be worth checking?

And another vote for hitting the memory button when getting out Embarassed As I am the only driver I now have all the memory button programmed the same so it make no change whichever one I hit Laughing

Here's a curve ball - you haven't got a cd or dvd in the drivers door bin have you? I thought I was going mad when my seat appeared to be going crazy, it would lift up th the highest setting. I would hit 1 on the memory pad, and all would return to normal. Then the next time the seat was all the way up. Evil or Very Mad

The reason was, the cd rom case was catching under the seat adjust switch when the door was closed, and lifted the seat up.

Rattles and squeeks, mine has just been in the dealers for second service, and rectification of a rattle in the centre dash area. 4 days later, they had stripped the entire dash out to find a stray screw rolling around in there. Now its rattle free!

I had a dash rattle on my MY12 D4, turned out to be the centre speaker not being seated properly, land rover removed and refitted and it's been fine since! Thumbs Up

"Relaxed torque" is a fantastic way of saying "loose"...

When doing FMEA at work we were always told to state failures in none emotive terms so that if they ever had to be read out in court should the company was sued it would sound neutral. You never said something could catch fire, it would be a thermal event or such term

Have the same squeak between the glove box (hinge) and centre console. It's stopped now in summer, but I have bought a Squeak and rattle kit just in case it reappears in winter.

Regarding your seat, I'm pretty certain that you have to keep the memory button pressed till it moves to the end position, so touching one of these when getting out of the car shouldn't move it so much.
