"We can't help feeling, though, that the Discovery XS still brings more than enough kit for everyday use, and it's more than £20,000 cheaper than the XXV when you factor in a bit of discount. That's simply too much of a saving to ignore - so while the XXV is a strong proposition, it's not our Discovery of choice."

Really? Even a HSE Lux hasn't got an electrically adjustable passenger seat or rear heated seats! Does it at least come with a fridge and curry hook then?
My 06MY plain old HSE is starting to look like a keeper. Too many features to miss were I to upgrade not to mention the spondooliks.

I'm not sure of the point you are trying to make with this?

I think the XXV is a stunning looking car and the extras are nice touches but there is no getting away from the fact that it's nigh on £65k! Not sure the review is the best I've ever read mind you. Every HSE I've ever been has front passenger seats that are electrically adjustable and they have all had heated front and rear seats as standard too! Sounds like some gaps in the reviewers knowledge there! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

What part of "tells an accurate story" don't you understand ? Nice of LR to commemorate 25 years but not at that price IMO21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

There is some talk of a "last hurrah" version of the D4 prior to the D5. What are they going to call that I wonder? Makes sense and hopefully won't be at such a premium price being an outgoing model. I won't hold my breath though My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Thought i'd check.....Having read Whatcar? magazine over more years than i care to remember, I have come to realise it's purely an opinion. Nothing else.
But the fact of the matter is this is far as I am concerned.....I liked it and I thought it was worth what I paid for it...like wise you thought yours was worth it over the XS model the Whatcar magazine was recommending. But that did not stop you buying the HSE did it?

didin't say I didn't like it ... just don't see how it's worth £17k more than what I paid for a HSE...nothing personal about your choice ..you made it and I wouldn't have. The thread isn't yours so I can make a a fair observation of my own ...can't I ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
