Hi everyone
I ordered a new Disco yesterday:
Stornaway on Ebony
V6 SE
Mats
3 Year Servicing
July build, late August delivery
Starting point was the $63,950 driveaway deal, but could only get a couple of grand off. I guess that what happens when both dealers in town are owned by the same guy! That said, the chap at Osborne Park (Mike) was knowledgeable and didn't put any pressure on.
I have a few quick questions I was hoping you could assist me with:
1. Where's the best place to buy the steering wheel audio controls?
2. What about the side steps - dealer price is scary?
3. I've heard you just need the buttons to operate the "hidden" heated seats - is this true?
4. How reliable are the delivery dates given by the dealer?
Thanks in advance - this is a great site for all things Disco.

Benson - yes welcome aboard!
1. Dealer
2. Yes - dealer price for all parts/accessories will be scary... Question though - why do you want side steps. With the access height on the suspension, access to the vehicle is easy. And the Factory sidesteps will certainlt not act as rock sliders, but I guess will offer some lower side protection...
3. Why would you want seat heaters in perth?
4. that's why we bought a demo! off the lot!
All the best - great choice!

Benson,
Hi and welcome.
I too am a new owner (not yet hit 800Km or gone over 3000RPM )
to answer your questions:
1. do NOT buy in Australia!!! Dubbo dealer quoted $212 . Nick at Yeovil in UK can get them to you for about $100 delivered! 8) OR you can try Ebay.
2. Dont get side steps they will actually reduce the ease of entry. If you want protection get sill replacement sliders, LR sills (the black plastic bits under the doors) are about $400 a pair.
3. Dont know about the heated seats.
4. I ordered on 5/1/07 and was told delivery late May early June (it had to be factory order as i wanted Ediff and adaptive lights) BUT it arrived 20 April (plate says it was built feb 07). So excellant service there. regards
Peter

What 'pbhawkin' said.
I would like to work on heated seats; started a thread but did not manage to get any further. AFAIK you will need to wire ones self with an electronic control. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for the replies guys
I was chasing side steps as my 3 year old son clambers aboard our CR-V by himself now - but he uses the side steps. I'll see how the access height works for him when I get the Disco.
Seat heaters in Perth? I agree that window tint is a more pressing requirement, but our winter mornings are pretty cool (it was 3 point something here yesterday morning).

Welcome Benson.
When I got my D3 in Apr 05 my son was 4 years old and he clambered in and out of the D3 in normal height pretty much unassisted. Kids love to climb and jump.
By the way he has the whole middle row to himself and sits in the middle on his car seat. Great view for kids in LR's stadium style seating.

Side steps... I love mine.
Make it easier to get in and out and......
When you park in a shopping centre, leave the vehicle in off road height and the cars parked next to you will open their doors against your side steps. They get the ding in the door and you don't.
Yes they are dear, but wider than most after market ones.
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on the audio controls. I ordered a set from Nick for AUD$96 delivered - not bad considering the extortionate Paypal exchange rate. He said I was the 4th guy from Disco3.co.uk to order them in last few days.
Nick's very helpful and prompt!

My son also has the middle row to himself but he sits on the passenger side so I can look around and see what he's doing (when I change lanes of course) and I have the middle seat folded so it's easier to see out the back.
Is the mobile connection only available factory fitted or can it be done easily and cheaper after

Thanks for the ebay link.
Just a reminder - MY08 steering wheels are a slightly different colour, so there's now two different part numbers. Make sure you get the correct one!
