Personally I think if you feel the cover is worthwhile and fits your needs then get it, but just remember the dealer is unlikely to be the cheapest option, so look around first and then at least you could tell the dealer what it would cost elsewhere and you never know, there could be a deal to be done.

we took out GAP insurance when purchasing our d4 12 months ago...three years cover 300 quids
via landrover dealer....
this will make up the difference between insurance pay out and the cost we paid at new ...if we write it off
thought it a good deal to be honest

Nice dealers offered me GAP insurance for £400. A Which? recommendation from their website £150 quid less and covering a larger amount! GAP to me is a no brainer and come 3 years down the road and it gets written off, I get a nice cheque for the full amount again for a new car.
