I have been fiddling about thinking that I will, then I will not, get the D3 chipped. Back in November my Insurance Co said "no problem but 30% approx increase in premium". I did not accept this. Waited about for a while, new torque converter and transfer box fitted!! Still waiting for turbo rattle to be cured. Had another word with the insurance co. No problem, over the phone, subject to the exact details of the bhp and ft lbs increase. Appropriate figues sent to them as shown on Website. 10 days later a letter arrives. No go the enchancement is excessive, please consider lower figures. Before I enter into a long discussion as to the benefits of chipping and the fact that I was honest enough to tell them can anyone suggest a good insurance co that will take on an old codger (75) who wants a chipped D3 insured at a normal premium. I should add that I have been with the present insurance co. for over 30 years in various guises i.e private and professional and do not really want to ditch them. No points on licence or on my wife's licence The big drawback is my age. Most companies seem to draw the line at 70. Any comments sugestions gratefully received.

I am currently in discussion with my branch of NFU about going down the Torq Tune route.
They (the branch) have little or no knowledge or understanding, and when they have seek advice they have gone to the local dealer.
Having supplied the ins. comp. with the dynograph provided by TFC, they 'didn't understand the information on it - I am really not sure what they want......
So, the dealership basically said " you need to find out how fast it accelerates " - WTF?
How technical is that? And they didn't understand the dynograph either??!!
I have informed them that, in real terms, the change in performance as such is minor as the tune is for increased economy - I am waiting to hear back from them.
They have talked about loading me upto 20% for tuning, and they (the ins. comp.) advised me that I would be invalidating the warranty, they had been advised this from the local dealer.
The journey continues.........however, as I have engine related issues at present the tune will be down the list for time being. I am due for renewal in Sept., I amy wait until then and see what happens.

DG has got his Torq-Tune agreed with his insurance
Thub, if you want specific figures in your tune (i.e. a 'part tune'), I can do that...

My local NFU office (in Chapel en le Frith) were only interested in the numbers when I changed my insurance to them. (I have JE, the tune takes it from 189 to 234 bhp.) That was all they wanted to know, but I made sure that they also knew that the tune has no effect on top speed, and that the reason of the tune was for easier towing, that sort of stuff.
Initially, they wanted to put a 20% loading on the premium for the tune, but I cited DG's 15% loading (without actually having to say where or who my friend was) they gave me that loading too.
They did all this without needing to speak to Landrover.

Cool,
When/if I hear back from them (I shall give them a nudge next week) I shall refer to that.
After all, they are using the same underwriter, in theory at least.

Lets say the worst happens and you prang your pride and joy. Whats the chance of your Ins company actually finding out that you have been re-mapped then In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Otherwise I would forget.......
In the old days, emails went out form PHP boards with the content of the latest posted message, but it would not state who made the post, so if you signed the post........ The M-Power Express

In the end, I didn't send TFC's bits, I sent a letter outlining the general synopsis including BHP info and guaranteeing that the top speed had not increased...that was sufficient 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
