If you have an accident which is deemed to be your fault and that accident entails claims amounting to perhaps six figures, (your car , other vehicles, injury claims etc., very easy to get big numbers) your insurance company is looking to minimise its payout. Are you absolutely certain that the modification cannot be detected by the right person withe right equipment. I'm not thinking about the kit your dealer has, I'm thinking about the kit and expertise an insurance compay looking to avoid a big payout has access to.

Insurance companies are aware of chipping, they know which vehicles are likely to be chipped and they do not like making big payments.
