Another thing you can be doing while waiting for it to charge is order up a "clamp type" ammeter from somewhere. (c. £15) This allows you to measure the current passing through any wire it is placed around which will make finding your current drain difficult instead of impossible.
I went through this at just this time of year two years ago and can still hear everyone saying "Your battery is fine" - except it wasn't.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Yep, DC capable clamp meters are very handy but there are other (more labour intensive) methods of checking for a drain should you not have a clamp. I think clamp meters are a must-have, but I appreciate that not everyone sees the value of tools.

I thought I saw you in my garage again Greg.
Yep, I keep one of these in my car tool kit, so a few members have been clamped by it (!). Paid well over £40 for it but I have seen them under a different badge for less than that. It goes down to 10mA, rather than 1mA of my other one, but for the money I think they are great all-round multimeter. Remember that the typical draw from a sleeping D3/D4 is around 25mA, so it is not capable of a refined figure but is good enough for most fault finding.

£15 for a DC amp clamp sounds great.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
