Sat Nav Map DVD Error
around 6 weeks ago when I keyed in a Stirling postcode, got this Map DVD Error on a grey screen.
couldn't direct me to location.
after freeing it [by inputting an English post code] everything worked ok for the next few weeks.
however, on another trip to Scotland this week, keyed in a Perthshire postcode and same thing happened again!!
will this be a faulty dvd disc?
anyone else experience this problem?

I live in Aberdeenshire and being new to Scotland use the sat nav via the postcodes all the time, I have never had this problem, could be specific to you.

My folks had a similar problem with a Stirling post code, they tried re-entering after a reboot (coffee break) and it found it OK.

Clean the dvd with a soft cloth. It might have got a bit of dust or a mark on it.

Ronp,
I get something similar from time to time. Occasionally, I find that the whole post-code section is greyed out (i.e. it doesn't know of any postcodes anywhere). Once it had no points of interest available whatever.
All four or so times this has happened to me, a 120 second key out reset seems to solve it. Not really much of a problem and certainly not worth a dealer visit. I have noticed though that the steering becomes quite heavy when using the satnav on the move and you do a reset
In my case I am using a self written DVD rather than my original (which I keep safe at home), so it could well be related to defects being picked up when reading the disc.
With hindsight caused by writing this post, I have to say that all the incidents occured during the time I was suffering from a slightly below normal battery charge/voltage (never had a failed start or bong, but battery was sometimes as low as 11.2 volts)...Since installing my two top-up solar charger panels and turning off my cubby fridge it hasn't re-occured. Coincidence? Probably, but it might be worth a quick battery health check too whilst you're at it.Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?
