I fitted the genuine 13 pin electric kit two weekends ago, and used it for a bike rack last weekend, everything worked without enabling anything, the parking sensors go off when reversing though as they pick up the bike rack but I turn them off and use the reversing camera. I guess a dealer can set it so the car recognises that the electrics are plugged in and turns off the sensors automatically but it's not necessary.
Hope that helps,
Tim

If you enable the tow electrics you also get Trailer Stability Assist, and Tow Hitch Assist. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

Trailer Stability Assist is permenantly active with or without the electrics being plugged in and the Tow hitch assist is only relevant if you have the multi camera system.

Hi Munders,
Towing stability is standard, tow assist is only available with the full 5 camera option.
What I am not sure about is if the stability assist needs to be activated as the LR video says it functions all the time even if the electrics are not connected, yet the price list says it is only available with tow bar and electrics.
Perhaps someone can clarify this?
