Thanks Nick. It's not exactly like my symptoms. Mine are more noticeable when cruising at about 60mph, on smooth surface. If I use command shift to alter the revs, the rumble stays the same. I even tried putting it into neutral at 70 and coasting, the rumble was still there! So I don't think it is engine related. Will pass on the info though so they al least know I have researched for a cause. I'm going to swap tyres front to back to check if that makes a difference. I can't get it into the dealers for a fortnight.

I suspect the tyres. I never experienced it with worn 19" Scorpion Zero's on my D3, but I think the compound has changed on the new Zero's and of course yours are 20".

Worn Goodyear Wranglers used to be noisy and the above comments about GG AT's are well documented here.

Update on this. I had 4 new Pirelli Scorpion Zeros fitted today, and the grumble has gone! So obviously it was tyre resonance or something like it!

Actually only fitted 3 tyres, I used the spare and put the best of the old tyres under the back. I don't see the point in keeping a new tyre as spare.

Looks like it.

When I had a look at the tyres that came off, the two rears were worn almost bald in the middle, with 2 mm at the outer edges. This indicates that I have been running them at too high a pressure Confused Always checked them regular, and kept at 36 most of the time.

Good it's sorted, nothing worse than a grumble you can't pin down. Thumbs Up

I honestly can't remember running a car that was more sensitive to tyres and tyre pressures.....
