It would have been far better if LR had put a decent sized tank on the D3, maybe OK for you guys but in upside down land fuel outlets can be 100's of kilometres apart Shocked

I thought that the fuel tank was pretty good- I get a range of 650 miles at least out of mine.

Shocked 450 is more like it for me! Embarassed

475 is the best I've managed this week, and I was sweating to get that Embarassed t'was on fumes. Took 86 litres to fill. I've been try extra hard for economy this week with the fuel problems. Got my average up to 25.5 mpg. Not been over 75mph all week.

Stick a 2 tonne caravan on the back and see what happens! I work on 500Km for a tank (82 litres according to the handbook) more for a tail wind and less for a head wind. The last trip I had to do a 70Km detour just to top up. The "roadhouses" (rip off merchants) are usually in range but charge at least 25% over the going price and I don't like carrying jerry cans. There does not appear to be anywhere to fit a long range tank. May not matter too much shortly as I may not be able to afford the prices to put any fuel in Sad

Diesel is around A$1.30 (56p) a litre in the Perth area rising to about A$1.50 in the more remote areas up to A$1.70 odd at some of the Road Houses. Unfortunately it is still rising.

Flippin heck Anthill, thats good. We need Securicor here when we fill up. I have just applied for a second mortgage to refuel this week. When we had the silly fuel thing this week some pumps in this area were at £1.15 per litre, now that was silly.

Don't worry, there has just been a mad exodus from the UK by the D3'r. Its cheaper to get down under and have fun. I miss my days down there thats for sure.

That works out at nearly 35 mpg, which is almost half as much again as I get. Sad

Do you only travel on level roads at 45 mph with a following wind. If not please give details of your driveing technique as I definately need all the help I can get Smile

Idea On the fuel comsumption debate I have averaged 15.52litres/100kilometrs (18.6mpg), the car has done 6545 kilometres. My TD5 had done 62454 Km when I sold it and averaged 12.41 litres/100Km (22.8mpg), it was a manual compared to the D3 which is an auto. Both are/were used mainly for towing with very little solo use. I can put up with the extra fuel used for the comfort and power of the D3 plus not having to use a clutch Very Happy
