Good job the steering wheel was still there then
I've just come from GSTD while i was there I chatted to the workshop manager about the service action as I have just had my bar check and 2nd service
"Have you had many problems (with the removable bar) over the years" I asked ...
"no it's not a widespread issue that we have come across .. we've replaced one cross-member on a car that towed every day and we've replaced a rattling bar under warranty" he said

Well I kinda sorta knew a steering wheel was needed ....but being new to the LR make I wasn't looking for a little plug to shove up the towbar hole....until joining this thread.
But I have ordered one now. A bequest to the next owner when I change.

Anyone taking bets on how long Wolfpack's towbar plug will stay in place ?
I'll give it ten days, being generous (mine lasted just about a week before it disappeared)
Bought a used one on eBay at a fraction of new price, from a guy in Devon....he had loads available.

Now, how many of us have lost the orange blank to stop dirt getting in the socket when the tow bar is removed?

Eh ? Never had one to my knowledge from new - either it was never there or it fell out. Till now I never knew there was such a thing TBH.

"Oh" I said ..."interesting"
And I was once told by the Service Manager at a local LR Dealership (after returning my D1 due to water pouring in the sunroof) that he had never heard of a Discovery 1 having a leaking sunroof before.
Just in case anyone doesn't know, it was a very common fault affecting thousands and thousands of D1's

Sorry it wasn't to satisfy any urges I thought you might have ...it was in case you wanted to tell him directly that you thought he was lying 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
