So if the sub-frame mounting is damaged then they just leave it now and do not weld a new one on.
I guess that cuts their costs down considerably.
I hope they have done proper testing with a fixed towbar attached via a damaged mounting socket as I would be surprised if the original design specified such a requirement.

got mine booked in for looking at before the rush 8)
Had to let service dept know it was a service action, and they initially thought it was only a handbook update too, but after that cleared up great service. Car is relatively new to us so no idea how towed with before.....
(which means I have to sort out the battery box clearing over the weekend!)

Does the pdf linked to above not give the game away about removing the towbar without a key ??

Having already had mine checked as ok , before the suspension of testing, and been given the supplement for the handbook... do I now assume there will be a letter sent out to all owners in this affected group, stating exactly what they can and cannot tow with a removable tow bar?
Are LR going to say definitely ....(for example) "detachable is ok for towing a 1700kg caravan 3000miles a year"...provided you stow it when not in use? Or is it still going to be down to interpretation and finger in the air?

It is quite explicit so it was best to remove 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Got my d3 yesterday and got it booked in today with LR before we use the caravan the week after next.
I phoned and said just got the car and are there any recalls and she said the only one to do is the tow bar, she stated all parts will be there when they look at it in case changes have to be made.

DON'T BELIEVE THEM...ive had mine done new cross member and fixed tow bar.
Mine was hanging out ready to depart to the dark side (tarmac that is).
IT will be fixed next day ready to pick up , wasn't till I phoned up asking when it would be ready to collect and said well that's quick new cross member and tow bar..
reply no only tow bar ... cut a long story short... they had bods from the Solihull plant come and show them how to do cross member .
In all took 4weeks to get back to me ....Great job and nice tow bar.

so, when they check mine next week, if they find it loose, I should ask them to replace the towbar AND do the rear cross member?

I think replacing the cross member requires a severe swing on the towbar boogerometer.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
