Booked in next Wednesday.
Rang up guy salmon wakefield and was told to book in because it was outstanding. I did say to the girl on the phone id never had a tow bar or towed with it but I dont know if the previous owner has. Do you think it would matter that I don't have an actual Towbar for the car, will this be something they check?
Anyway I won't be able to take it into dealer, swmbo is going to do it for me so il probably get half the story.
Just worried I don't have a Towbar thats all.
Thanks RobbRob Whitfield

Retractable Tow Bar
Well, I have had my replacement fitted. It is terrible. I was told I would get a replacement, not a full fixed agricultural tow bar !!!. If I towed commercially or was a farmer, that would be fine, but I use mine maybe 3 times a year. I bought my car new 4 years ago and specified the retractable tow bar just for that reason, I didnt use it much.
I now have a massive tow bar that protrudes, everytime my wife (whos car it is) goes to undo the boot, she clobbers herself on it.
I cannot understand that I can go into the showroom and buy a brand new Discovery with the exact same retractable tow bar, but yet if I now want that put back on mny car, I have to sign a disclaimer to say if it breaks, its down to me.
I looked at buying a new one a couple of months ago as its the perfect car for us and ours has now done 90k miles, however the dealer said a new model was coming out in 12-18 months. I therefore decided to wait to get one of those.
Not a chance now. Volvo, Audi, Merc, here I come for a 4 x 4. What a pity, LR have lost a very loyal customer.
Has anyone else had the same issue, or have they had a retractable replaced.

If you tow in the frequency stated then I would go back and demand a removable bar which the scheme entitles you to 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I have, and they will replace it with a retractable one. BUT I have to sign a disclaimer saying LR take no responsibilty if it fails. Which I am not prepared to sign.
You dont need to sign a disclaimer if you buy a new car with one, so why do you have to sign one for an older car.

Even more peed off now. L/R wont budge on me having to sign a disclaimer. But they will agree to a £500 discount off a new car... WOWEEEE.
I think I could probably get 7% just by walking in as a cash buyer.
I think I have now been pushed to the Dark side.... Volvo, here I come. What a pity, I love the LR, but I just cant stand the way ive been treated.
Off car hunting this weekend, very sad

Got my letter today, I only tow very occasionally but will pay a visit, only thing is I don't have the key for removal of tow bar, I assume this will cause some problems?
I have seen all the threads relating to fitting a new lock but have never bothered
Do they need to remove the tow bar to check for wear/excessive play?
