help sat nav problem you ideas please
Happy Christmas
I need a bit off help from you all . Im working away this Christmas and my wife has contacted me to tell me that there is a problem with the satnav on the car. she was about to set off on a long trip and went to set up the sat nav she could not enter a post code. after a quick check she realized it had defaulted back to Belgium. she thought that was a bit strange but set it back to uk after that she tried again to enter a post code but could only enter it in the address page not in the post code page. she has had it to the dealer and they had a look at it but they just reset the system and the same thing happened again. they said it was strange and they had never seen it before. they have asked to have the car for a week to fix the problem. can any of you shed some light on this? do you think a week is a little long?it will be done under the warranty.
thanks

ye that's happened to me in the past too. I should have also said that now it will let you enter a post code in the address page but only the first part eg ky12 9bx you can only put in ky12 wont let you finish it. we used the sat nav quite a bit in the past ye its not great but its ok for traffic problems and stuff. do any of you think the dealer asking for the car for a week is odd?

Mine went in to the dealers on 17 Nov for sat nav problems; new GPS receiver didn't cure it so waiting for a new wiring loom now - that was on back order from the manufacturer and not expected until 21 Jan! At least they've provided a 14 plate HSE as a loaner in the interim. As long as your dealer loans you something comparable whilst yours is in, or you're content with a FL2 that they probably have as stock loan, then I wouldn't worry about it being in for a week; after all, you want it fixed don't you?

ye i will be happy if they fix it. just thought 1 week was a long time i was hopeing someone might have told me they need it for a week because _______. Just like to know what might have been the problem. cant get it in till the new year and they have agreed to give us a similar car while its in. I guess its not a comon fault as only a couple of people out of 150 have replyed not a good sign!!

There are two things to consider IMO
1/ if the sat nav display has an icon showing where you know you are located i.e. in your street, outside your house then the GPS is working correctly.
2/ if the system won't let you put in a full postcode then it's a set-up issue in my mind. Read the manual carefully and check the settings .

Hi DG system is working as in location ect keeping track no problem. Just that when you go to put a post code in its greyed out but you can put one in on the address screen but only the first part. So it’s a bit funny i thought it was something in the settings too but been through everything service engineer did the same. Looks to me like some of the data might be corrupt but it’s a head scratcher.

Just out of interest, did you ever manage to get this sorted?
It's started happening on my MY12 too.
It resets all Sat Nav settings changes. So that's a bit annoying.
If you do find a solution, I'd love to hear more about it.
Thanks
Warren

Ye just got it fixed on Friday the garage fitted a new AIM? Audio integration module? its called something like that. They have a name for it but its basically the bit with the cd player in it holds the entertainment system memory. works fine now was a complete factory reset tho no big deal but had to do phones again ect.

Thanks for the quick response. I will have a chat with my dealer and see if I can get it sorted.
