Has anyone had their detachable towbar fail?
Hi chaps. I've been reading on the inter web and I've seen on a couple of sites people are saying the detachable D4 tow bars can snap/warp back panel and even drop out.
Has this happened to anyone?

It's been discussed several times as this search reveals
Yes, pulling an empty trailer with my old D3, 400 yds from home, demolished a telegraph pole. Now on fixed & won't go back.Paul.

Yeah that's why I use a fixed tow bar, I don't really like the look of it but looks solid

No you take it in they say it's worn out and charge u for a new one. Same as the parts that wore out at 60k. Front diff, turbo actuator, most of the suspension bushes, compressor and key that could not be programmed without a new box under the dash, various bits of hand brake, bonnet switch for alarm, various door locks. Would I buy another yes if I was insane.D4

I guess you had this done before the latest campaign? Perhaps Pete from LRCS could help negotiate some goodwill given the recent turn of events?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Too late for me but thanks for the info good to know they are doing something. I lost faith in the land rover tow bars and fitted a proper one. The only thing on the truck that's made with quality and durability D4

If you leave it in for a long time then the last thing it will do is drop out. In fact I had to sell my D3 with mine in place as it was stuck.2014MY Discovery
