Using The Optional LED
Good evening Guys,
I just wanted to add a little something to this thread. I've been using the LED in 'Monitor' mode to tell me not only when I have activated the FBH but when the car it's self activates it.
It's a cool little add on and I'm quite surprised just how often the car decides to fire up the FBH whilst driving!
Here's a couple of pictures....
In the first one, you can see the power (red) and ignition (brown) wire enter the fuse box and connect in there respective places. You can also see the LED command wire (green) running up the right hand side. At the top right you can just see the red and green wire of the LED leaving the fuse box and heading towards the passenger A pillar.
In the next picture you can see how I've brought the wires into the car through the gap in the door and under the seal. After I posisioned this, I wrapped the wires in black tape. (Firstly for protection and secondly to keep those wires stealthy!)
Next I removed the air vent/cup holder and passed the wires behind it headed towards the glove box.
This is where my LED has ended up.
I have chose this position, because for now it is the best place to see the LED from my living room window... And it means now I know it's activated rather than wait at the window for the tell tale smoke that comes from underneath... Something that I won't see if the wind blows the wrong way!
I personally do plan to add a bit of length to the LED wires and route the LED to a more permanent 'OEM' looking location! 8) You can see more on that in my build thread that I've created for my D3... I may also add somemore details pictures of where I positioned this module in my car!
Anyway guys... Go for the LED and enjoy!

Nice one Jay. Always struggle to get cables into passenger bay on modern cars.

Had a good question over PM:
What are the DIP switches set at, so you dont have to remove the lid to look !?
1: ON
2: OFF
Which is set to run to the temperature target of 75c. (the best option in my opinion)
3: OFF
Means the ignition being turned on wont stop the heater.
