Over from RRSport hoping you can help? |
|
I’m hoping that more people have had this issue with their D3’s
Long story short my 2005 RRS 2.7 tdv6 is a non runner due to failure of the engine ECU With water ingress, they fear they may not even be able to retrieve the codes to clone a s/hand unit? I’m awaiting a report.
So my next option is main dealer which I’m sure will be cost prohibitive but I’ll check, then we come to the purpose of my post replacement of the coded elements of the engine ECU and here’s where I need help and yes I have searched and not found any conclusive info.
1 - What parts do I need to replace? Most kits I’ve seen show ECU, fuse box, instrument cluster, key and sometimes the ignition switch (do I need this? Is there anything else?)
2 - Is there any further coding required to get the engine running?
3 - If it all works how do I get the remote to work the central locking?
Hoping you can help? Any information is Grateful.

@adigorn, Is that as simple, as put a “new” ECU in and flash it?
@ Devon z, since the main ECU is better sealed than a few others in your motor, are you sure it is the only one with water damage? Best regards
Harold

Oh yes, there’s a large grommet in the bulkhead above the ecu where a loom goes through to the scuttle area this was dislodged, water had dripped onto one of the looms to the ecu and ran down the wires into the plug then into the ecu.
Are we saying the IID tool could only code in a new or wiped ecu not recode?
