Might seem a bit silly but after just having bought a new D4 last week i was just wondering what the last available date would be if i was to order a new one, the one i have just bought was a dealer stock, it has pretty most things on it but would have liked RSE, usually i do my own as i did in the D3, but as this car has the brown coloured seats and i don't really want to cut them up to mount a screen in them, all the other cars i have done have been black leather so i used the replacement headrest screens, you just can't find that brown colour.
I know it might be a bit later in the UK for a order than over here, but it will give me an idea before i speak to the dealer.  2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

Well I confirmed my order at the beginning of the year, build is the first week of feb and I could get it before the 1st March, but im waiting so its probably 3 weeks from build to delivery (but the factory is 15miles away!) so 7 weeks total if everything is in order.
Maybe a week more or less - for you, there will be all the other time delays Mike

Thanks mse, what i really need to know is when the last orders will be accepted when production of the current model is stopped. e.g if production stops on the 20th dec2015 can i still order a new one say 7-8 weeks before that date around the 1st Oct 2015, would that be the last date to order it??

Well considering there isn't any stop date on the current discovery it isn't a factor - not a factor I would even consider
If at some point in the next 2 years they do announce a new discovery, then here will be a date and it will depend on a range of different factors, like build slots dealers have, offers etc etc - there is no way of telling Mike

Ahhhh, fantastic, i did not know that they are not stopping production, for some stupid reason i had in my head i thought they would stop due to the release of the new model this year.
I can now relax about changing the car as it would be a shame to get rid of it so soon, plus it will keep SHMBO happy as well.

They haven't announced or confirmed the launch of a new (replacement) Discovery this year though? People have been speculating for the last 2 years with people saying 2015, but that's not a JLR confirmed/or supported statement
Defender is stopping this year.

True, have been following a few threads, but i just presumed that they would stop the D4 with the Dsport out now.
Knew about the Defender, we were about 2 days away from saying yes to a new one that the dealer had, but i just thought i cannot drive that all the time as my main car, if i had kept my D3 then yes, it would be okay, but having 4 cars between two people, and three i would be driving was going to far, so the D4 won in the end, still fancy a defender but i want a 90 really so i can have it with the roof off and use as a summer car with the kids so i can get rid of the bloody BMW soft top. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

The Sport is not a replacement for the D4 it is just the first of a family of Discoveries. The replacement D4 is now not likely to be available until 2016 or even 2017. .

Personally I'd save the £2300 on the frankly crappy RSE and buy the kids an iPad each!. Save yourself a fortune and get a much better bit of kit that's transferable and much more useable. I've had the RSE in a couple of cars before and it just isn't worth the money especially when put next to a couple of iPads.

I've got the later RSE in my 2014MY car, and have to say it is much better than I was expecting. The kids like it, and they get a choice of TV, Music, USB memory stick, component input or DVD. The only limitation is they can only watch the same thing on the same source, however I have put a second USB device on the component so they can both watch USB films independently.
My kids also like the 'how far to the end of the journey' option, although it would be nice if it showed a map.
We had ipads in the D3, but I like the lack of faffing around for me in putting them in the car, remembering to take them out at the end of the trip and trailing cables.
However, it was in the car when I got it (standard on the HSE Lux I think) and not sure I would have specced it, but am definately pleasantly surprised by it.
By the way, kids are 11 and 13 now. TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

Understand what you are saying, got iPads coming out of our ears here, but not really an option for us, i sold my old screens with the D3 as they were getting a bit tired and through frustration bought a couple that go onto the headrest posts, now i used to do this for a job when i was in the uk and never agreed with this type of screen as we only fitted into the headrest, but it was an ends to a mean as we got the car in 5 days from buying it and i thought i could live with it, but have now seen that the 2 year old likes to kick it when watching it so anything that sticks out is now a no no and as good as she is with an iPad indoors trying to use it in the car is not going to work.
I watched the LR video on the RSE and IMO i think it is really good, at least i can control what she watches with out having to stretch my arm around whilst I'm driving.  2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

Seeing your signature, you have a 2015 HSE Lux. That has RSE as standard..... doesnt it? Mine is a 2014 HSE lux and it was standard. TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)
