In the Car Configuration File. Geoff could do this for you.
I'm curious Lost for Words.
What does enabling Xenons in the CCF actually do? I've seen the option but having Halogen headlights, I've left alone. If the ballast is in the Xenon lamp unit, presumably it's still fed with NBV? I'm at a lost as to how the BCU can alter the power at the headlight unit?Freelander SE 2005 Auto.

Not sure exactly, but somehow it allows a bigger current draw at start-up. The wires etc. are the same so maybe the CJB alters the behaviour of the FETs. Edit: Can't say how long the flickering is for as, already having adaptive xenons ( ), it's not something I've done myself.
I've put xenons onto my originally halogen car but haven't changed the settings. The flickering isn't really a flickering, they just start a little dimmer for a few seconds before they're up to full strength. Generally I crank the car (lights on automatically) and then put my belt on, by that time the xenons are up to strength. It's something that's perfectly liveable with.

So have those of you that have done the upgrade noticed a difference??
I fitted mine a week ago and enabled them in the ccf but actually don't think they are as bright as my Halogen ones I removed...............if I don't notice the difference when I'm driving around the dark roads of Devon next month they will be in the for sale section soon after my return LOL.

I noticed a huge difference fitting to my Silver GS (rip )
Best thing I ever fitted to it!
This may sound like a daft question but have you fitted genuine Landrover Xenon headlight units or halogen units with illegal HID aftermarket units in them?
BTW if anyone needs some genuine units I've listed some for sale as the HSE has adaptive ones alreadyMust stop buying shiny toys....

I had exactly the same issue when I fitted mine, I even went out and bought new bulbs to make sure. Like you I found they were nowhere near as good as my old halogens. When I got the alignment checked they were low by miles, once that was correct there was a world of difference.IID PRO

How old were the lights that you fitted? The xenon bulbs are very long lived but they do grey with age. If the lights you've fitted still have their original bulbs then it could just be that they are passed their best.
I was pretty pleased when I replaced my halogens with xenons, but a new set of bulbs really transformed them.Darren

Sorry to hijack a little but was having a read at the thread and I have a couple of questions.
1) Why are aftermarket HID kits illegal? I have them in mine and it passed the MOT with no problems, so if illegal would I not have been pulled up? They are much brighter than the candles (halogens) that it came with.
2) The enabling of the factory Xenons with an IID tool, does this stop the initial flicker and warm up period (~3secs)? So full light output instantly? The flicker and warm up adds a bit of a quirk which I think I like.
3) Should I/what would happen if I enabled "Xenons" with the HID kits fitted?
The halogen light units are not type approved for a HiD bulb, the beam created by the mirror means that there is too much light scatter (into oncoming traffic), the fact your MOT tester did not spot them does not mean it's OK, I ran with done for a few months before I got Xenons, the pattern that the beam tester measures is still apparent for the visual check at MOT.
The CCF change removes the flicker not the slow "warm up" as the discharge of the bulb is generated

Yes they are genuine xenons from a 2005 model as far as I can tell you. They are not HID upgrades.
