Hi everyone,
Paid my deposit today for a brand spanking D4. Coming from a 2010 RRS and decided to make the change to have more practicality and space with the second little one on the way. Plus I've always loved them. My Dad has a 2010 disco, and despite stinking and always being caked in mud (he's a farmer and believes trucks are tools ) I've always preferred the drive compared to my RRS.
Only real issue for me is that I'm buying through an online dealer using the military scheme so haven't really seen what I've ordered and a bit worried about my combo, and 12 weeks is a long time to find out!
On order is a HSE in Scotia Grey with Ivory/ebony. My RRS is black with almond interior. I didn't want another dark colour but did want a lighter interior but was advised against almond with scotia as it clashes.. What do you guys think?
Aside from that I've added:
Tints - prefer the look and don't require blinds with the baby.
Adaptive xenons - was actually the first thing I specced. Really like adaptive lights.
Rear diff. Don't do too much off-road but when I do, would like to believe I'm driving something that it isn't comprimised in any way.
Fridge, TV, full size spare and service pack.
Only real anonoyance is LR not offering 19's as an option on the HSE. We don't all want blingy wheels you know. I like to put AT's on and have a smoother ride with cheaper tyres thank you. Oh well, I'll just get some thicker rubber I think.
Anyway, looking forwars to it and posting some pictures of it bogged down on the farm!

Sounds like a nice spec I bet you can't wait to get it First thing I did when I got mine was take of the 20" wheels and put a spare set of 19" alloys on with A/T tyres. Cheers Ian

Very nicely specced car
And the service pack is great value at I believe £699 for three years - not available when I bought mine.
Like you I've not seen Scotia Grey in the flesh but it does look good in pictures. Seems like it takes on different hues with different lighting and surroundings - a bit like mine, which I wasn't too fond of when it first arrived but has grown on me.

Well after a long wait it should be ready by early July. Would you guys wait for the new plate? I'm guessing it might cost me a grand or two if I don't come resale time. I'm in no massive rush as my RRS is still going nicely.

Don‘t forget to get yourself and RLD spare wheel protector, having your spare nicked and winch stolen is the last thing you need Iggy/Ieuan

I'm in exactly the same position. My currently car is running pretty well, the value is fixed until 1/9/15 and I'm getting lots of extra use out of the old FL2 at no cost to me.
Unless circumstances change and there's a pressing reason to change early, I'll hold out until the 65 plate and retain a little extra residual value 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

Yeah I think I will, thanks. It's just been such a long wait though; ordered at th beginning of March!
Iguana, that's good advice but fortunately the MY16 ones come with a protector as standard. Will be treating it to a new car detail though and some Crystal Serum to keep it looking brand spankers for a fe years.

Depends how long you plan on keeping it? We'll be keeping ours for (we hope) about 10 years so the residual value won't be great when we sell it on.

Hi, I have a new xs on order, it was due in Jun but is now due mid late July. I have asked the dealer to delay it until Sep as I'm in France for August with the caravan but he thinks I can't delay the order for the new reg date do that, is he right? Thanks

If it's an XS, then it will be a Euro 5 compliant car (not Euro 6), so will need to be registered before September the 1st. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
