Lanoguard the underside, new xenon bulbs, and carplay (roughly) fitted today.

In the very early days of considering whether I can justify the car given it's a bit of a weekend luxury alongside a company car.

Fitted sill covers / protectors…..let’s see how long they stay clean 🤣

Considering Lanoguard the underside but figure better off leaving that until we have some dryer weather

Will do Thumbs Up

Re Lanoguard - It's really easy to apply, and as it's a bit more fluid than others it's a bit easier to get into nooks and crannies. As it's easy to apply tend to do a steam clean and reapply twice a year, before first gritters go out and after the last. Comes with a tub of grease for problem/very vulnerable areas. Time will tell I suppose!

It's also easy to keep a tub or spray bottle of Lanoguard and add more every time you have the car jacked up for any reason. I was also very surprised to find that it was still quite fluid at colder temps.

Replaced the power steering fluid. Pumped out and filled up a few times, 1,6 liters of Ravenol later the oil looks a lot better. About time after using the same oil for 279k kms.

Today I spent 5 hours trying to fix the EPB, all I achieved in the 5 hours was removing 7 of the 8 screws holding the cover on!

Tomorrow battle will recommence on the last one!

Very please that my D3 is just for fun and I do have another car to get to work etc. Makes the frustration of car repairs go away when you don't need it back on the road.

Opened the boot to get something and heard a clunk, followed by the boot not opening…..you guessed it..actuator cable snapped.

Spent over an hour breaking in from inside following the guides on here to cu5 into the cable guide to get the boot open, for a 20 minute fix Smile
Bodged the cable by extending it with bicycle brake cable for the time being until I get the time to replace the latch properly.

Bodged a loose lock mechanism on the front passenger door.

I’d noticed the door didn’t seem to close fully flush and sometimes needed a harder slam than seemed reasonable. When it refused to catch at all last night I took a closer look and found the three securing screws were missing. I borrowed one each from the rear doors to hold it in place temporarily and it seems to be working.

Finally got around to replacing the three ‘donor’ screws in my lock mechanisms having bought some from Rimmer Brothers. I just need to replace the rusty tailgate wiper arm now but was thwarted today because my puller wasn’t wide enough to fit over the spindle.

As discussed elsewhere 4 new tyres, recently new main Battery and also ( removed and sent off for repair and replaced ) Gear selector.

Always worried when I got the car about what happens if the selector wheel didn't rise up. It was ok on the rise but wouldn't rotate and was stuck in park, sorted now and with a life time warrantee on the repair.
At least I know that the work around (lever underneath cupholders ) to get the car into neutral works!
