That does seem cheap, fully comp I presume ? When my twins started driving on full licences 3 and a bit yrs ago, most reasonable was approx £1800 each in Citroen C2 1.1's. Lad had to have a 'black box', the lass didn't.

I can remember being quoted about £4,000 when I was 19 (22 years ago) to insure an early three door Range Rover third party fire and theft, so the Discovery quote seems good in comparison (although still hugely expensive).
Strangely, when I was younger I always found my new cars cheaper to insure.Andy

Very good point, up until a few years ago I had one of the highest risk London postcodes, so Mark has an advantage.Andy

I would say they look about right I pay £880 for my youngest daughter (17) on her Kia Picanto. It was this amount when she was learning and I expected it to shoot up when she passed but they said there would be no increase when I rang them to tell them she had passed her test Cheers Ian

Have you passed your test yet? If those are with a provisional licence, then they will go up when you pass your test. If you have passed, are these with a smart box fitted? If so, then about right.

Ok. My son is just coming to the end of his 1st year after passing his test. He (or rather 'I') paid £1400 for fully comp, on a 56 plate Fiesta 1.25 Climate, with a smart box fitted. A newer (safer) car would have been cheaper.

I passed my test and couldn't afford a car. I then got a 52 plate Yaris 1ltr. I'd held my licence for a year and hadn't driven in that time my insurance was £890 with a black box. I bough my d4 about 10 months later so didn't yet have my 1st years Ncd. My insurance fully comp in my name as owner and only driver £1900 and they'll give me a refund when I submit my NCD! Oh and no black box
Probably helps slightly that I'm a bus driver and have my class 2 HGV. But still very reasonably I thought for a 19yo with less than 2 years driving experience.

I've most I was quoted for Jack my 17 year-old to be the main driver (learner) on his 998cc mini with me as a named driver was £600
I did manage to get it down to £300 though by shopping around, I can imagine it jumping way up to £1500+ once he passes his test though Iggy/Ieuan

Biggest problem was the central Manchester postcode and being a student
