Maybe the old filters were not up to scratch? Did you hav a problem at idle
No problems whatsoever for first 5000 km's - although never took the vehicle over 120km/h or pushed revs over 4000. Only when I stsrted pushing did the problem occur.
Heine - according to techs no problem to replace in the bush, same procedure for starting after running tank dry - apparantly this is in the manual - have not seen it myself. Will however take as many notes and tips.
My previous Defender (TDI) was a to start after air in the system - but current TD5 no problem and this has happened 3 times already - just keep on switcing ignition from "0" to "II" for a couple of times and one can actualy here when the pump is primed.

Nothing in the manual , other than a warning not to run the tank dry , unless I missed it ?

Update
Travelled to Nelspruit over the week-end. Problem is still there ( going into limp mode when revs reach 4000 rpm after driving a while at high speed ).
Will hopefuly fit new filter this week - existing one has just ben cleaned. Could also be that dirty fuel is still in the system.
Although I somehow get the feeling it is something else.
Will update on progress and process to change filter.

That is exactly what I mean I feel more and more the LR techs guess and hope. I have been with LR 3 times for a ticking sound when hot on idle, new V belt twice stripped the front end and it is still ticking happily.
Then how does this work that you don’t get a fuel filter for your D3 2007? How many 2007 have been sold and no spares?
I think we are getting serviceWhite LR3 TDV6 2007

Update - 27/07
Got new fuel filter fitted after two week wait.
I could not hang around to see how it is replaced, but got the assurance that foreman will gladly show me at anytime how it is done.
I also requested that I keep the old one - they are not to keen as the part is still under warranty and they need to send it to LRSA. I have undertaken to give it back once I have determined that it is the actual cause and when I purchase one for spare.
Will test vehicle under similar conditions over the week-end and report back.
Check this out - when the vehicle was delivered to me it had "developed" radio controls on the right hand side of the steering - I have S model which only recently came out with cruise control as standard. After my previous visit to them it had "deleloped" auto locking which I wanted but never actualy requested.
So - one of these days I will be the proud owner of a HSE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Update 30/07
Tested D3 with new filter over the week-end as much as I could (without being locked up for speeding) all over Magaliesberg mountains.
Everything seems Ok - no cutting out or a trace of loss of power. So, hopefully my first (and last) niggle has been sorted.
Will only be able to post pics of filter and details how to replace when I'm back from a LROC support of mountain bike race through Kruger and Limpopo transfrontier park - next week 6 August.
