? easy access to underbonnet from behind top glovebox?? |
|
Ok folks looking for some advice
Picked up a yaesu ft-1802 2m rig and will be mounting it in the top glovebox. Need to find power for it, pref high current so is there an easy way to get through the bulkhead to the battery??
ps, this rig is only £99 right now and seems superb value for money....at that price it would be rude not to! 2007 HSE Java Black.....sold

Thought you were considering the new bluetooth rig? Was looking forward to you trying it out and reporting back
A sort of try before you buy by proxi

was going to get it but its £250 , has 70cm that I never will use and doesn't come with a mic.
the display was pretty nice and the whole rig was v compact but to use bluetooth, you will need the yaesu headset, headset charger and the bluetooth board...all extras making the whole setup closer to £400.(857 territory!).....at that price, the 1802 was a no-brainer (and plenty is left in my ft-2000 savings fund.) also, though I tend not to pay a lot of attention to reviews, I haven't heard a bad word said about the FT1802 on eham etc
going to pop back to MLS while down here and pick up some antenna mount/co-ax etc , well I'm only 10 miles away while here on holiday!......don't think I'll get it installed prior to my return home though. 2007 HSE Java Black.....sold

Agree totally. It's the extras that add up and if you dont use 70cms then why waste the cash. Still, it shows the way they [Rig manufacturers] are going so I'm sure A. the price will drop and B. They'll come down in price.
Good look with the install - a post some pix on the way.

If you're going to Billing you can have a look and see how LR did it with mine, as they mounted the G4 radios in there with the power and aerial lead both terminating inside.
I will be on the G4 Owners Club Stand and if I'm not there then someone else will help I'm sure. 2006 G4 Challenge Support Vehicle

The easiest way is to use the grommets on the opposite side and route it across the dash underneath the heater
Getting cables through on the same side as the battery / BJB can be done but it's a nightmare and requires lots of bits to be taken out first, both underbonnet and inside the cabin
