My 2005 HSE has them too -- I dont think its a big deal. It does look like its cracks in the sunroof guides and I take a look every so often. I would say this -- I havent heard one report of a sunroof flying off (the safety concern) -- but if it ever did, LR would be crucified for acknowledging but not making this a recall fix. Can you imagine a sunroof flying off and hitting the windshield of a car behind you on the expressway ?!? Bad news. Also I havent heard or read any reports of sunroofs stopping to function because of this problem. I use my roof multiple times every day, cracks dont seem to affect adjustment or operation. When and if they did, it could be an issue and it'll be something we're all yapping about on these forums... so they'd deal with it if and when it does. These forums are powerful historical documentation if and when it ever comes to that -- A little pessimistic but pretty much the deal.
I say all this because I also have a 2006 Audi A6 and it has the SAME type cracks in the plastic on the sunroof... there are little plastic arms that bend when the sunroof opens. It's a very different mechanism than the Rover (given that the audi's slides into the roof, the rover's over the roof), but its the exact same thing and same response from audi. Not safety, doesnt affect operation of sunroof, not covered by warranty. Also a 55K (USD) vehicle.
Sunroof cracking - silliness. Stupid engineering or materials choice not befitting an expensive car. Safety or recall ? not now.

Found the cracked sunroof arms on my 54 HSE as well, when trying to see if drainage tubes were blocked. Yet another trip to the dealers!

Is this something that you all think has been remedied in later year models? I have a 2008 LR3 still under warranty that I just bought. There seems to be some indication from this thread that LR "fixed" the problem for later models.
Thanks!

I have cracks on mine, they haven't got any worse for 3years.
I also have a Hobby caravan which had a new sunroof fitted under warranty when the warranty (5year) had ran out by 1year. This was a recall on all Hobby caravans with the type of sunroof fitted to my 'van, - hope you are reading this Landrover. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

From reading the whole thread there seems to be a number of different issues. From cracked electric sunroof plastic guides through to cracked glass on the fixed glass roof.
So can anyone tell me whether the plastic guides were successfully dealer replacement especially since many earlier warranties have run out please? Also did they have to replace the whole sunroof just for these cracked guides?

On my previous D3, the dealer had to replace the whole sunroof due to the cracked plastic guides, they said that you cant get the guides on their own. The D3 was 5 years old at the time but had LR extended warranty.

As is always my luck. I went to check mine and the switch doesn't do anything. Lodge switch both ways and nothing. Dead sunroof. Ok. Any ideas where to start the fault finding ? Fuse gone ?

Just hold the switch in the open position for what seems an eternity(1-2mins) and it will come back to life
With the engine switched on of course and preferably with it running to prevent a flat battery. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
