The dearth of 18" tyre choices for the D3 has improved slightly with the introduction of a new tyre frorm Michelin in the 255/60 R18 profile.
The Latitude Tour HP XL (a 112 V rated tyre) should provide significant wear improvement over Wrangler and Pirelli alternatives; it should match or even beat the performance of the Synchrone, which is far better than either of the Land Rover factory fits for the D3 18" wheel.
Don't have a price yet.

I also reported on this tyre a week or in another thread.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic9766-15.html
At the time I did not know if it existed as I could not find its details on the Michelin web site.... glad you have confirmed its existence.
Costco quoted £141.45 inclusive of VAT and fitting.
Can it be found for less elsewhere?

Great work Roddy , I knew Costco would not let me down.
Good to see Michelin have taken note of the wear issue and provided a solution, now how can I get the price down????

doesn't look like they do this new tyre to fit HSE 19" rims and few people seem to stock Synchrones... Pirellis & Goodyears seem more readily available. Or maybe i'm just getting paranoid. DGRR

Spotter, do you rate them as a good tyre in terms of longevity, road noise etc?
If you don't mibnd me asking, how much did your supplier charge you, fitted, per corner? DGRR

no problem dgrr.
can't really comment on longevity as they have only done a few thousand miles so far....I think Gareth has notched up a few though. I am certainly expecting to get lots more out of them than either the Scorpions or the Wranglers.
As to comparisons, they are smoother than the Pirellis and a bit softer than the scorpion zeros. Slightly less steering feedback than the zeros (mien were assymetricos) but correspondingly slightly better ride. They are quiet and nicely behaved, no obvious quirks. Had them on for my Alps trip and they were good at high speed in cross winds, tracking straight well, plenty of wet grip in the somewhat torrential rain and did alright on the snow. Didn't get stuck at Salisbury....but then neither did the other D3's on a motley selection of rubber.
I am pleased with them and would recommend them if you are after a quiet, comfortable (and hopefully long lasting) tyre.
As to cost, mine were £140 each fitted. They are only an H speed rating though rather than a V.....not that that is a problem I find end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

I've never quite understood the H versus V speed rating thing on a TDV6 D3... As I understand, H rating is certainly good for 110mph - not that I'm ever likely to see that in the real world - so what's the point of a V rated tyre on our cars, anyway?
£140 per corner seems great: where do I go??? DGRR

...er...that could be a problem with your stated location.
My tyres were from Micheldever Tyres (in Micheldever surprisingly...near Winchester, Hants). They are part of the Protyres chain but not sure how far North that might extend. They are a very high volume place....unless you are after Goodyear 19" MTR's of course.....
Certainly they are the most consistently competitive prices I have found anywhere near me and good service as well.(so far touch wood). Might be worth a call/email anyway, most of their guys seem to know their stuff.
Micheldever Tyres
website seems to be down currently however...... end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Just fitted Bridgestone Dueler HP Sports 255/60-18 112V's, full match to original spec. Initial indication very quiet, particularly compared to worn Wranglers. Have to say that I doubted the many posts about Wranglers being noisey, so much so that I was convinced that wheel bearings or a diff was stuffed. Nuff to say that with new tyres fitted serenity prevails and wont doubt you again!
Not an expert but guess that they are aimed at softroaders Q7, X5 et al based on advertising blurb, anyone with experience on performance, mileage etc.?

Just wondering how your Dueler HP's are performing. A local tyre chain are offering 25% discount off all Bridgestone brands if you buy four. I might be tempted if they are any good for road use only. Fuji White, Auto with Surround Camera
