First oil change.
When would you change the oil & filter on a new D4? Waiting for the first scheduled service seems to long to me, but maybe I'm just being "old fashioned" and oil technology has improved.
I changed it after 7.5k miles on my D3, it clearly did no harm as the engine was trouble free for the 145k miles that I did in it, sticky EGR aside.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Did my first at 6500 / 6 months and unfurled the filter, just to be sure. Normal after that.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I am doing mine every 5k, It had 10k on the clock when I first got it, I had the first full service at 12k booked it in for next week for the oil doing 17k
I prefer to have the oil changed every 5k on normal vehicles, when I used to run tuned cars (5 Turbo, Clio 16v Turbo etc) I would change them myself every 2k.MY16 HSE Firenze Red Loving it

I guess it's a good idea if you plan on keeping the car long term. Something I seem to find impossible to do !!Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

I do it with the intention of keeping them long term but I always end up changing after 3-4 years.... MY16 HSE Firenze Red Loving it

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll do this around the 7k mile mark.
