Prospeed rock/tree sliders - worthwhile?
been eyeing these for a bit - any views on whether they are worthwhile?
they look good and offer decent protection - I'm just not certain I need the protection. We will be wild camping and overlanding in the vehicle, but mostly in Europe and Africa, and with a relatively expensive D4 (and kids with us, and often travelling as single vehicle) will not be throwing it into anything too wild - so would they see any use?
it's a lot of money though smaller in the context of the car overall. Any other options for the D4? I don't need them for steps really, we can all get in and out ok.
views welcomed , as ever.

hi xcentric,I looked at this option and decided that I didn't need them to get in/out of the car or that I would put the car in a position that I needed them or underbody protection.
OK, I have a winch, but there's a lot of sand out there.
I put on rear bar with wheel carrier for easy access to spare wheel and then used the space where the wheel was to fit a 100 litre aux fuel tank. I have a range of 1200-1400km (on a good day)

nice. Drove round your fine country in a Troopy with long range tanks etc. Thinking of them on the D4 too but expensive over here.
Like the rear bumper wheel holder - ARB? again, expensive over here
(might just have to import a Troopy before they stop making them though )

I bought some as ive dinged my seals. I fitted them about 2 months ago and used them about 3 times. I do quite a bit of laning. And they really do push the car away from the tree's. Theyre alot of money. But they do work and they look top notch.

xcentric, rear bar and wheel carrier by Kaymar. The tank will come in handy when we drive the 5000km to the Pilbara region of WA in 3 weeks.

I've had mine on for 6 months and have put them to good use
Looking at the scuffs, scrapes and even a few small dents on one, I dread to think what I'd have done to the car without them although the most recent big hit they took might have only happened because of the extra width of the car with its sliders.
However, if you're not going off road, the only protection you'll benefit from is in car parks when the car next to you opens their door carelessly.
They do loom good though, but does that alone justify the cost for you?MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but......
I currently have the genuine Land Rover steps, but how do these compare as an actual step? From the photos on the site they don't seem to stick out as much. I just wondered as my mother-in-law needs to use the steps to get in as not the most mobile, so was worried these might not work.
Also, I believe some of the trim is cut to fit the LR steps, so does anyone know if this would need to be replaced/removed, cut somewhere else etc?
Many thanksAndy

No cutting required for tree / rock sliders as they replace the lower trim completely (see photo below). They do aid the loading of mothers, as this was a successful outcome after fitting mine. They also avoid the steps vs frozen snow problem too. Clearly larger steps will be easier to use, but their disadvantages out way their usefulness in comparison to tree sliders, for me at least.

Well worth fitting, had an alternative option prior then changed, don't have the step attachment as not required for me, kids use them to get in & out, do their job when off road.Paul.

They have a haze of swirl marks in places but predominantly the finish has remained as above - Prospeed did a really good job on the surface finish. A few of the fasteners are tarnished so I plan to refresh them at some point.
