But surely you've got it approved before any work starts or are BT investigating and then putting claim in to WD?

Personally I'm more than miffed at what is supposedly a 'solid unit' in many D3's gives up the ghost in mine Dave

They do a road and glycol test first then go from there. Will doubly make sure they know re not starting work before authorisation. Will make sure hoops are jumped through in right order.

That is the major downfall with WD, if something is broken and it's obvious ie an alternator packs up (happened to me just 3 weeks in) then it's a fairly straightforward claim.
but if you're not quite sure what's up then you can get stung for investigative work

Joy of running an old banger.
Still cheaper than the depreciation on a shiny new D4, which doesn't do anything my 9 1/4 year old D3 does.
