Discovery 4 HSE on order! 3 weeks till collection now!! |
|
Finally got my Discovery HSE on order for delivery towards the end of September, recieved a tidy discount from my brother who works at the plant too 8) . Moving from a Focus ST to a Discovery so a little nervous if I'll find it slow and wollowy however expecting similar fuel consumption (mid to low 20's).
Made the huge mistake of going on landroverhell.com while looking for a good forum! I hope all the problems have been ironed out in the latest facelift!!

i am moving from base model D3 on coils to new MY16 SE with some goodies added
having 30% extra power from the motor and better box as well as smooth air suspension I am expecting very sweet rides in it
I think you will not be disappointed although it is as you say NOT a boy racer it has many other qualities
MPG might even surprise you
If you ever want to make it much quicker check alive-tuning for D4 tune t 306BHP and 7sec to 60 MPH
ON the positive note we have never ever got stranded by the side of the road in present D3 even manged to cover the whole Europe twice (there and back) on hols with slipping clutch and xyz sensor going mad a few times
Do not listen to horror stories as you might get a bit paranoid as I did long time ago lol just enjoy it as there is lots to enjoy
good luck
Greg

Please don't take Landroverhell seriously.
Just try posting anything positive on there, they won't publish it (I know, I've tried and failed). Most of the posts are undated and some of them are many years old. No comments are open to scrutiny and nothing is challenged. I often wonder how many contributors have ever even driven a Land Rover, let alone owned one. Or even how many of the contributors have driving licences yet! It seems to have been started by and run for the benefit of cranks.
Hope you enjoy the Disco. I used to run a Freelander 2 for work (company car) and a 2010 Focus RS for play. When I gave up the company car and used my own I lasted about a week with the Focus and traded it for a Freelander of my own. The family really appreciated having the Freely back and I much preferred driving it anyway! Yes, really!
Finally, I've managed to order a Disco and I hope it's going to be even better 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as โsecondโ cars ๐
2021 to date: Hinckley built โ14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built โ14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

I had a Freelander before the Disco. The FL2 feels a bit lighter, but surprisingly on faster A roads the Disco resists roll rather better. I guess the air suspension sorts you out? You will feel the weight in slower corners though.

Ordered a Discovery HSE today, build date late October and delivery in November (hopefully). Moving from a Freelander 2 manual but regularly drive a Discovery for work so have good idea of what I'm getting in to!

Been reading around on this site for a few days now and it has restored my confidence in both the dealers and the Discovery! I will definitely be looking at having it remapped! 0-60 in 7 seconds for a 2.5 tonne truck is incredible.
Does anyone know if there is any preventative maintenance you should do immediately on delivery?
