Future D4 owner questions
Hi ,
I'm looking at purchasing a D4 over the next couple of weeks.
My Budget & preferred mileage means i've narrowed my search down to MY12 SDV6 XS .
just a few questions:
1) are there any options you believe are a must or that you could live with out, eg i'd like a rear camera but i hear it spends most of its time dirty & is therefore not as useful as the parking sensors....
2) My preference is to purchase LR dealer direct purely for additional piece of mind, but if I was to purchase either privately or from a non LR dealer, which is the preferred warranty provider that peeps have gone with?
3) Am i correct in thinking that Bluetooth streaming of audio only came in MY12?
4) I thought Xenons would be standard on an £50K, but some of the XS adverts I have seen only quote halogen lights, where Xenons a optional cost item?
5) some of the cars quote a Meridian system other HK 11 speaker or HK logic 7, is it worth seeking out models that have the Meridian or HK logic 7?
Options really are a personal issue, I would want:-
SDV6 Engine
Leather interior
Heated steering wheel - std in SE Tech or above
Heated front seats
8 speed gearbox
PDC front & rear
At least standard xenons - adaptive acceptable but not required
18" wheels would be ideal, otherwise 19" wheels - no larger.
NJSSAm I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.
2016 Discovery 4 Landmark
2011 Mercedes Benz SL350 (R230)
1973 MG B GT V8 - 3.9L John Eales engine, 5 speed R380 gearbox, since 1975.
1959 MGA roadster - 1.9L Peter Burgess Engine - 5 speed gearbox
Past LRs - Multiple FFRs, Discos & a Series I - some petrol, some diesel,
none Electric or H2 fuel cell - yet.

Rear camera is fine and an added bonus to the rear sensors. Just get into the habit during bad weather of rubbing your thumb over the lens each time you set off on a journey. If you get clever with the height adjustment, you position and hitch up a trailer solo., needing only to get out once to secure the hitch.
If you're thinking of having anything of value in the back (eg dogs) look for tinted windows.Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
D4 SDV6 SE Tech Kaikoura Stone MY15.

Original wheels have to be 19" or above to fit over the SDV6 brakes.

As said personal choice.
I currently have a DS HSE which has good standard spec, leather, xenons, sat nav, pano roof. I'm trading it in for a Disco SE.
The only options being privacy glass and xenons. The rest I can live without.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Warranty direct seem to be the preferred on here, my warranty runs out in a couple of weeks and I have a one year, dealer rate, top package for £670, some have got a little better, although it would be "free" from a dealer and probably less hassle. You obviously pay for the privilidge in the price of the car.
It wasn't a £50K car at 62 plate, the projector halogens are ok if you upgrade the bulbs, lot better than the D3 halogens.Joined the BMWX5 45e group
