Headlight 'flash' function not working

2009 d4. Being a courteous driver I often flash people through etc. And living where I do most of these people are relatively old. So when I've been flashing the lights to let them through I assumed they were being 'old' when not responding to my lights flashing.

We'll it turns out the flash function hasn't been working! Maybe for the 2 years I've had the car. Not working with lights off. Not working with sidelights on. OK with dip lights on.

Rapidly loosing patience with this car. Anyone here driven a Touareg?

The penny dropped today when someone didn't react to me flashing my lights. Thanks Rolling Eyes

When I say 2 years, that's thinking back how often the same thing has happened. Until today i never considered the flash function might not be working. I'll need to check fuses etc. If I find anything I'll post it up

Well that's explains why they're not working. No halogen bulbs?

I'm guessing this is not normal. The bixenon lights are flashing fine when the headlights are on. I bought the car from Barretts Canterbury, the front end was too clean not to have been painted so maybe the lights have been out and not refitted properly.

That's bizarre, but at least it's an easy fix. Plus, you'll get the benefit of more main beam light!

Nope. They are lights. Until now, as far as I knew they worked.

Granted the car gets a lot less of that sort of attention than it should. Its not my daily vehicle, its the wifes daily. It gets washed every 6-8 weeks. What time its does get from me is spent changing brakes, wheel bearings etc.
