EUROTUNNEL ADVICE NEEDED!!
I'm supposed to be going on the Eurotunnel tomorrow and just noticed we booked for a normal car which is height restricted to 1.85m. Will my D4 fit in the carriage? I'm worried it will rip the GPS aerial thing off the back.

D3/4s fit in the low carriages, just lock it in access height. Or just check in then follow the signs for high vehicles.

If worried just check in with a humanoid and explain your dilemma, they should then put you on the high coaches, though would be space dependant and you may get put on a later crossing. I've been in the low section a few times and it feels tight but was fine. Just don't forget to lock in access height, otherwise you'll rise up if you exceed a speed. If in doubt how dig out the manual.

Del, just looking at the D4 manual for something else and thought I would look this up and it shows the overall height to be 1888mm when in access mode (includes the roof aerial). Can't remember if I went in the normal or higher vehicle carriage when I last used it.MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Ah, didn't realise d4s were taller. Then sweet talk the chap/chapels at the checking to go in high section is the route to go. They are usually very helpful, if the 'pooter allows them to be.

It looks full according to the internet. My wife's going to kill me
I must admit I wouldn't want to travel Dover-Calais in the light of recent experiences.
I have been a great fan of Eurotunnel & the Hovercraft out of Dover - but I anticipate I shall be travelling on other routes until the problems in Calais have been fully resolved.
Good luck.

You could phone them up & see what they can do. I've often seen the online system being full but able to phone up & say "any chance of .........?" And it worked. But this is the start of the school holibobs so it could be very busy.

Eurotunnel warned holidaymakers to expect lengthy delays today because of what it termed “intense migrant activity†in Calais.
As thousands of families set off for holidays on the continent, the Channel Tunnel operator said that car passengers leaving Folkestone could expect delays of at least two hours.
Makes sailing from Portsmouth look quite attractive, and no road delays getting into Portsmouth + you see might some of the America's Cup action.

It will go but it is b***** tight. Go there as normal but when you get to the lane that splits you for high and low, take the high side and as you get to the booth where they tell you which lane to park in slow down and put into off road height then if anything is said just plead ignorance and ask for their help, hopefully you will get put n the height side and have no worries.
I would also allow plenty of time for travelling down there, op stack and the surrounding roads are chaotic. Dependant on where you are coming from come down the A20 until Hythe then go onto the M20 and J11, Police have it closed but will allow passenger traffic with a ticket through and onto M20 for the short drive to junction 11AMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
