Oh dear
Earlier today a stone hit my windscreen, I heard it and immediately thought ' I'm amazed that didn't crack it'. Several hours later I noticed an 2' long crack along the bottom of the windscreen at wiper levels. Not sure if this developed during the day?
Annoyingly it 100% wasn't my fault, not a single car in front of me (can't get accused of tail gating) someone going the other way!
I phoned Aplan who put me on to their window specialist who said it would be 'like for like' and i refused saying I wanted genuine land rover... Turns out neither would be available until a week today! Can't quite believe that.
Do dealers fit them? I'm quite concerned it is going to grow even further and half the window fall out?!!26 and on the 4th LR..

Screen are made of two sheets of glass with a thin sheet of plastic in between as a result the outter cracks and the inner stays intact. It may well crack right acros but as siad it will not fall in.
Windscreen company told me 10 days to get a screen form LR, I said rubbish, rang my dealer and they could get one the next day. Told the windscreen supplier that and contacted LR insurance, they ensured I got LR windscreen and the next dayMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

The last time I had a windscreen replaced (on a Disco) I got the insurers to agree that I could have it fitted by my dealership. I knew that they would call in Autoglass or somesuch but the onus was on the dealer to ensure that it was correctly fitted and that various clips were replaced.Never take life too seriously. Good point from Bill - whoever fits it make sure they replace the A Post clips and seals or it will leak
Autoglass did mine and the clips and seals came with the OEM screen (LR branded Pilkington Opticool)

Mine was replaced using my insurance who sent the AA out to do the job. The original was a Pilkington Optikool Laminated with Land Rover written on it. The replacement was identical except no "Land Rover" on the glass.
The fitter told me they are identical to OEM but those supplied to the factory have Land Rover written on them. If I wanted one of those there would have been an extra charge and a delay. Couldn't see the point of throwing money at them and the replacement is as good as new.FFRR Westminster TDV8

Snap - mine is now travelling vertically up by the A pillar but I'm minded not to replace it just yet.
