His 'n' Hers Disco's

Okay, I'm sure I'm about to let myself in for some ridicule here, but I'll open it out to the forum to add their comments all the same.

For some years I've wanted to get in to Disco ownership but for various reasons this has not been possible. That didn't stop me watching the classifieds for one, just in case...

Then things changed around 3 months ago and so I was able to bring this dream back to the table, so the inevitable trips to dealers began and registering my interest to purchase (2nd hand). It even got to the stage where on my birthday my wife asked me what I would like to do for the day and so it was off to a dealer to peruse the stock (sad I know!)

Now, it was during these visits that SWMBO took a shine to the DS, she tried to cajole me in to taking that route, but I was not to be swayed, I knew what I would like and it was a D4.

Then a few weeks ago, along comes her boss and tells her that her lease car is to go back and what would she like - so to cut a long story short she requests a DS and lo and behold within a week they have one sorted for her - DS, SE Tech, Corris Grey, to be delivered next month.
I'm really happy for her and she deserves to get such a lovely vehicle and we will at last have a LR, but a bit of me is also a bit gutted as I'm struggling to see us having 2 LR's in quick succession and probably having to rule out Corris as a colour choice for myself (it was running a close second to Scotia, although rare as hens teeth to find).

So, despite my long time desire to own one, I now find myself thinking it might be a bit weird to find ourselves in that position. Especially, if they both appear within a short space of time.

What's the collective thought on me still ploughing ahead and getting that D4 and us having 2 on the drive and does anyone else out there have a His n Hers scenario like this?

Over to you...

The only thing that's stopping you having 2 LRs on the drive is yourself, if your in the position to go for a D4, why wait? Life's too short.

No different to having 2 Fords, plus the D4 is more practicle than the DS, so it may come in handy.

J77 - I know you're right. Just looking for a sense check Very Happy

I suppose I was just a bit surprised when SWMBO went for it and got what she wanted so quickly. It kind of threw my imagined plans in to a spin. I've never been bothered by what others think (heck I have an RX8, now there's a marmite choice)

As for all the other great pics - great stuff. I can see it now... Thumbs Up

We've got three LR's on the drive, my D4 and Freelander commercial and SWMBO's FL2.
Each is a completely different vehicle and has a purpose - mind you, the only one that could do everything is the D4 Thumbs Up
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Reading your story, until the point that your wife was getting a DS, was so similar to mine... my wife was pressuring me down the DS route.... but hell yeah, why not have 2.

In a couple of weeks I will have an Evoque and a D4 on the drive - sadly only for a couple of months though, I had to compromise - she gets a convertible Fiat 500 and I get the D4 - I'm happy, she is delighted Very Happy

Life's way too short and you only get one go at it. Sadly only realised this recently due to an untimely passing (sorry, getting way too heavy).

Go for it

I thought two Land Rovers was the norm...

For years, we had my D4 and the Fun Prevention Officer had F2's (originally for horse trailer duties..) and I had my weekend off-road toy.

Now we are down to a D4 and I am building a comp safari type toy (based on a RRC) and herself has gone over to the Mini Cooper SD - 2 litres of go-fast fun which seems to be the other drug of choice for LR ownership...

So, yes, two x LR = Very OK!!!

Wow! I must say there are some very impressive LR / 4x4 fleets out there Very Happy

Whilst out for dinner with the 'FPO' (as she now wishes to be known!) on Saturday, I shared with her the tales of what people had said on here. She was most impressed and insisted on reading it for herself when we got home...

She was most amused, especially by some of the acronyms applied to those in her position, especially The Fun Prevention Officer (hence the new title). Needless to say she shared that with my (very politically correct) sister-in-law on Sunday morning who immediately launched in to emasculation mode Rolling Eyes to be swiftly laughed at by both of us... and ignoring the SIL - it was all to good effect, as your comments and especially the pictures all helped to further the cause.

Cheers everyone - Thumbs Up
